Which Fulci film started it all for you?

For me it was "Zombi 2". I've since seen "Don't Torture a Duckling", "The Psychic", "City of the Living Dead", "The House by the Cemetery", "The Beyond", and "The New York Ripper", and enjoyed each.
What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life! -

Cat ONine Tails
Demonia

It was Zombie for me. I got my dad to rent it for me when I was 9. I wanted to watch it just because of the cover alone. I enjoyed it and ended up renting The Gates Of Hell (City Of The Living Dead)a few years later since it was also directed by Fulci. That film scared me like no other film has.

The first one was City Of The Living Dead, under the title The Gates Of Hell. I rented it years ago, 1983-84? After that I searched him out. I was limited at the time to what I could find, but I never stopped. He remains a favorite of mine to this day, and I'm 43.

ZOMBI 2 was my intro too, coming right off DAWN OF THE DEAD and hungry for more Zombie action! ZOMBI 2 did not disappoint, and I was blown away by how realistic and over the top the gore was. It totally got me hooked on Italian movies in general.
Afterward I was quite disappointed by CITY OF THE LIVING 2000DEAD and even more-so by HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY. THE BEYOND I found a lot more watchable but not until the end did I see much zombie action I had come for.
Once I grew to appreciate his style, I watched CONTRABAND, NEW YORK RIPPER, and CONQUEST all tremendously entertaining films and proudly displayed in my library. DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING and MASSACRE TIME were good too.
However, after getting burned watching too many of his late 80's efforts, I stopped bothering to seek out any more of his work. CAT IN THE BRAIN especially was quite torturous. This was all in the mid-to-late 90's when it was very hard to locate these films. -

The first one I saw was one of ones legally available here in Germany, I think it was
Demonia
on VHS and I wasnt impressed. Later I bought Zombi 2 on VHS and this started my interest. Didnt hurt that I was still in my "the gorier the better" phase and that
The Beyond
,
City of the living dead
and
New York Ripper
are banned in their uncut versions here.
Now I own:
Zombi 2 (Bluray/DVD/VHS)
The Beyond (Bluray/DVD)
City of the living dead (Bluray/DVD)
House by the cemetery (Bluray/DVD)
Zombi 3 (DVD/VHS)
New York Ripper (DVD/VHS)
Dont torture a duckling (DVD)
The Psychic (DVD)
Cat in the brain/Nightmare Concert (DVD)
Contraband (DVD)
New Gladiators (DVD)
Manhattan Baby (VHS)
Aenigma (VHS)
and Ive seen:
Conquest
Murder Rock
Touch of Death
Demonia -

Sette note in nero
which is actually the only movie of his I ever rated above a 5/10 (a 7 to be exact).
That said, I've felt compelled to keep looking for his films, perhaps it's his cheesiness that draws me, or his admittedly interesting, over the top stories, however poorly they were filmed.
