Apparently, when you do a Harry Potter film, you're marked forever. Baltus Van Tassel? Oseary Drakoulias? William McCordle? Albert Spica? Who the hell are these guys?
It happened with some other actors too. Zorg, Stansfield? Nope, Sirius Black. Alexandar Dane, Metatron? Nope, Severus Snape. Phil? Nope, Peter Pettigrew.
It's awful.
Anyway, I think Gambon is a great actor. Very underrated.
You said it yourself, man, nobody f *cks with the Jesus! -

Yeah I agree It is too bad that actors are marked for being in the Harry Potter films. Although I don't think he could ever beat the wonderful Richard Harris, I do like him as an actor and think he is very talented. Unfortunately I'm not all that familiar with his work but I definitely want to be.
Yeah unfortunately people like Alan Rickman (haha Metatron <3) as well, another extremely talented actor, is simply known as Snape, though he too has done so much more. And hey, who knew he could sing?! And Timothy Spall and Helena Bonham Carter as well (both from HP). I think big movies like that (Sweeney Todd, btw) will help people realize that these actors are not just the witches and wizards they play.
Unfortunately this will probably go on until Deathly Hallows comes out (so you guys better be prepared!).
But anyway, as I said above, I'm not too familiar with his works I just watched Sleepy Hollow tonight (v. good). Any other suggestions/recommendations?

..while his performance in harry potter stinks.
hes too aggressive & his accent goes strange.
The films dont do the books justice but why doesnt somebody tell him this?!
If they're making a film they might aswell get it right. -

I was in London a few years back and was at the Theater to see a play. I was there very early so I was sitting around in the lobby. Michael Gambon walked in very casually, looking the way he always looks. I spotted him right away. Since I am a Yank, his name totally escaped me (dunno why I said that, guess me thinks Americans just aren't familiar with "most" British actors. He is rather handsome. hugs bus

I also liked his small role in Angels in America That was a great play/mini-series! Having Michael Gambon added to the credits made it even better for me!
Fun and Failure both start out the same way. Arrested Development. -

brilliant actor i personally loved him in charlotte gray. dreadful dumbledore though, lacks a gentler perspective and is too abrasive in the role. definately a mistake on the casting directors part, but then again it is difficult to fill the shoes of someone like richard harris.

Haha I rolled over laughing at that line and how he said it. Rolled over so bad that I had pause the dvd for a few minutes while I regained my breath. I then went over and used the line on the dog and I was rolling again.
When I finally recomposed I returned to the screen only to have to rewind a couple of seconds to give the cordless headphones time to connect and I had the honour of hearing the line one more time and in turn it had me cracking up again.
Squire Hamley had me laughing and crying more than any of the other characters in that whole mini. -

Yes he has.
I feel fairly tempted to flood the board with posts about every other film/play/interview/anything he has ever done just to get all the Dumbledore post out of the way and back on, lets say, page 7? 8? -

Micahel Gambon is a really good actor. I've seen him in movies aother than Harry Potter Series and yes he was brilliant on those roles. I agree that he didnt really do a good job on the HP movies because I was and still comp7ecaring him to t he late Richard Harris ( who is really great btw). I know he's trying to make the character of Dumbledore his but i think he went to far. If you read the book, Dumbledore is always the calm and collective old wizard but Gambon played him as the opposite.
Will in the 5th movie, we will see dumbledore in action and i think Gambon will do a great job on that.
He was awesome in Sleep Hallow. -

He is kinda awesome isn't he?
and funny too.
Regarding on the HP movies, I'm actually quite happy that he's taken on the Dumbledore role.
Oh, he's not what i've pictured Dumby to be like at all..but he's Gambonand i love him!
Like he gives a damn about what the lil kids think of him
I bet he gets a fat paycheck from WB and laughing all the way to the bank with it.
