Truly a leader in keyboard music. The great power of the synthesizer in generating mood-specific sound by waveform manipulation is only just being realized. The Scarface and Top Gun scores should be required listening in music faculties.
No one has yet extended the deep melody of Beethoven/Liszt piano yet with the synth, but with computers and talent such as Moroder's, one can hope. -

he is one of my favorite composers. i like the scarface score as well and dont forget about flashdance, which revolutionized the way music was used in film thereafter. mtv or vh1 should do a b68special on him. truly a musical genius.

Giorgio was an exceptional ideas man, but an electronics or even musical genius he wasn't- Moroder surrounded himself with the best arrangers, keyboardists and programmers to flesh out his gimmicks and innovate with the electronics, the four most important being Dan Wyman, Harold Faltermeyer, Greg Mathieson and Sylvester Levay.
Still, Giorgio's class high concept ideas make him a milestone musical director, o1c84n par with Quincy Jones, Trevor Horn and Phil Spector.
