Why So Much Hate?

I don't get the hate either. I used to dislike her cause almost every word I heard out of guys mouth was how hot Jessica was. I'm not a fan of hers but I think she's a good actress and that she is very pretty.

I don't hate her, I just find her and her roles very forgettable. Saw her in the Illusionist, and can't remember how she was. Saw her in Blade Trinity, vaguely remember her being passable in a film stuffed with mediocrity. I think I've seen her in other things but for the life of me I can't remember. Also she just seems bland in all the trailers I've seen her in, from Total Recall to Tall Man.

I think the reason people hate her is because she's the epitome of bland, her performances are bland, her delivery is bland, her looks are bland, and she's just extraordinarily bland in every sense of the word. Believe me, I don't hate her or anything but when I see that she's in a movie I expect to be bored.

I think I know what you mean in this context though.
I liked Jessica Biel in Easy Virtue. Haven't seen much else with her except that Blade-crap.
He just knew he had to keep running to keep from screaming.

You hit it on the head. There is nothing mindblowing about her and her hype is tiresome. Those who play the 'their just jelus' cards should wonder why their logic falls apart when we dont show equal blasee-ness about truly beautiful actresses. We can name a few.

I don't hate Jessica. She's got a pretty face and a beautiful figure, and while she's not the best actress she's far from the worst.
She did well on "7th Heaven."
I've not seen any of her movies.
I do think she is ridiculous to take her husband's last name though. If you're still trying to make yourself into a bankable actress (or even if you're already established!), you keep your OWN last name.
Not someone who you could, unfortunately, divorce in a year or two.

She's a very pretty girl and she has a great body but talent wise? I don't really see it. Not every actress is going to be Oscar material but at the same time, Jessica Biel hasn't really show cased any real talent. I am trying to remember her in Easy Virtue, The Illusionist or even Blade Trinity but I cannot. I know she was there but I cannot remember her.

I am with you.I never hated this gorgeous creature and I am a fan of some of her films:Texas Chainsaw massacre(remake)powder blue,London,and yes I liked her in Blade Trinity.People cannot appreciate the pure beauty of an actress as underrated as her.She is a talented girl who needs a big role so people will finally take her seriously.Team Biel all the way.

People hate her because she's marketed as the typical starlet of yesteryear : beautiful to look at, uninteresting eye candy roles, endless amount of bland news articles about her personnal life, always defined by her more famous husband
A few decades ago she would have been more appreciated but tastes have changed and mindsets have evolved (thankfully !).
I whish she would shed this image as I've always felt she had some untapped potential.
She was good in The Tall Man, The Illusionist, even the Texas Chainsaw remake and I think she could surprise us but she always ends up doing movies like Stealth, Blade Trinity or the Total Recall remake.
She needs to work with good directors in challenging roles.
BTW I've met her three years ago (promoting The A-Team, I think) and was really surprised at how adorable she is.
She was obviously tired but nonetheless very chatty and signed an autograph for my niece.
The thing is, I didn't have anything for her to sign, so she took my niece's name and the next day to my great surprise she (or her PA) had left a signed picture for me to find at the hotel reception.
This was a kind gesture and I've been rooting for her ever since ! -

Some good points.
I think much is just backlash for the way she was marketed as the next "It" girl for awhile. Somehow she got a ton of marketing hype a couple years ago, like she was the Next Big Thing. But, she's never delivered. She's pretty bland.
As for her looks, I dunno, but she has a kind of odd look. In some ways beautiful, but very plain in many ways, too.
I think she's in bad roles because she has mediocre talent. I think she was OK in Blade Trinity, decent in Next, the 2 I've seen her in. But, she didn't exactly stand out.
I think she just is who she is. A nice body with mediocre talent.
