Eminem sues "Swim Shady"
Eminem achieved worldwide fame with
"The Real Slim Shady"
in 2000. Eminem now stands up for his life's work and takes legal action against an Australian beachwear company called
"Swim Shady"
and officially filed a complaint with the USA's Patent and Trademark Office in September. According to his lawyers, the company attempts to create a false association with the rapper – and profit from it. His legal team emphasized that the name is
"unique, famous and closely linked to his career"
.
The Sydney-based company was founded in 2024 and sells beach accessories such as parasols and beach bags. It originally launched under the name
"Slim Shade"
— no wonder Eminem's team raised the alarm. The trademark
"Swim Shady"
was registered in the USA this year and shortly afterward, Eminem filed a lawsuit.
The rapper also officially objected to the trademark in Australia. The problem? Eminem himself only trademarked
"Slim Shady"
in Australia in January 2025 — significantly later than in the USA, where he held the trademark since 1999.
Nevertheless, the company behind
Swim Shady
puts up a fight and declared in a statement that it will
"defend its valuable intellectual property, which was founded with the desire to produce stylish and effective parasols and other items designed to protect against the harsh Australian sun"
. According to the BBC, they declined to comment further.

The U.S. rapper submitted his petition to the USA's Patent and Trademark Office in September 2025.
The company must respond to the petition by next week at the latest (end of November 2025)…or shut down the company.

Only two weeks left to play Eminem vs. Slim Shady in HITMAN World of Assassination!
IO Interactive shares how players are doing so far in the new Elusive Target mission.
The mission is free as part of the Free Starter Pack and is available to HITMAN WOA players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, ROG Xbox Ally X, ROG Xbox Ally, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iPhone, iPad and in VR on PS VR2 and PC VR. The DLC pack is also available and can be purchased until the mission ends on December 31, 2025.
Eminem vs. Slim Shady quickly became a standout Elusive Target in HITMAN, challenging
players to face one of the most unpredictable targets Agent 47 ever encountered.
So far, only 31% of players successfully completed the mission, demonstrating its unforgiving nature. Creativity also played a role, with 4% devising an explosive solution to eliminate Eminem during the live broadcast and 6% using the S'ghetti sandwich to complete the mission.
25% achieved Silent Assassin status by navigating the chaos undetected.
