Unfortunately, her claim to fame was marrying Tom Cruise

Maybe he is and my "gaydar" isn't as sharp as yours. LOL!
It most likely wont be, if you are straight. Many guys that are proudly straight, can tend to get a tad uncomfortable with the prospect of one of their favorite stars being labelled as gay. It could just be considered a wish fulfillment fantasy concocted by gay men; but the reverse is also true of wanting someone to be straight as well. Instinct is the best option, if it is well honed.

'Okay well, like I said, it's not a real big deal to me'
Seems like it's a very BIG deal with people. But I'm glad it's not a big deal with you.
It's not just due to 'gaydar', since just as many masculine(hetero)acting men are gay, something people would just as soon forgetyou know, since it's not a big deal. -

cal67 — 12 years ago(December 19, 2013 03:39 PM)I would say that much of what the aloof attitude of
The_Dougstar
is (and many other proud to be a straight males), is pretty much the reason why there is so much denial and avoidance issues regarding homosexuality and homophobia in our society. They are afraid of the cold hard truth and it stings!
Deep down inside, it triggers of an aspect of themselves that they have not wanted to acknowledge and they want their masculine dominated ego's under control and reigned in. -

Firstly, It's The_Dougs
ter
. I never claimed to be a
star
. LOL! Secondly, why the attitude? How am I being aloof? And who the hell is claiming to be "proud to be straight"? I just never got the vibe that Cruise is gay. There's no "cold hard truth that stings" me. What a bunch of sanctimonious crap!

You can spare me your pseudo-psychiatry as well. -

Firstly, It's The_Dougster.
Don't you think The_Dou@hster would be more appropriate?
There's no "cold hard truth that stings" me. What a bunch of sanctimonious crap!
Whatever! You are just protecting your own over nurtured ego and sense of masculinity. You are deeply, deeply asleep if you can't see the obvious.
You can spare me your pseudo-psychiatry as well.
Thats ok! It is up to you how and if you process the information. My consultations are for free.

Sorry, did you say something?
Actually, I have said a lot. The little snooze face, only proves my point.
You're a condescending prick trying analyze a total stranger to make yourself feel smarter than you actually are.
So you are saying then you are actually smarter than me, because you then know better. Who is being the condescending one? It works both ways you know. It's obvious my analysis has pushed a button..but that was my intention.
Now you can and your SimplemindedF_ckboy can both discuss how I "process the information". By putting both of your sanctimonious asses on ignore! Tha2000nks for the consultation and have fun jerking off to Tom Cruise.
What a coward! Upset by the challenge so placed on ignore.typical! No great loss, because you are boring anyway and don't really have anything to say that is worthwhile listening too.

You brought me into this battle? I wasn't involved in your argumentI don't engage your type. Maybe jerking off to Cruise is what YOU do in private. -

If she hadn't hooked up with Cruise she would have done The Dark Knight as Rachel and that would have propelled her into over 1 million a picture. But Cruise talked her out of Dark Knight and into Mad Money..
It was the Batman Begins that killed her career. She was absolutely terrible in it. She was so bad that Maggie Gyllenhaal was brought in to play the same character to replace her. There's no way that Nolan wanted to bring her back. The whole fantasy that Cruise kept her out of it is silly. Get onto the Batman Begins board, and you'll find a lot of people complaining about Holmes' acting.
Her marriage to that nut probably had more to do with business acumen than any sort of actual real relationship. He didn't hold her back, she latched onto some crazy nutcase to further her career, in my opinion. But who knows really other than her and him? -

I agree. If you look at Nicole K5b4idman's career, it got much better after she divorced Tom Cruise. I think Katie's career will continue to get bigger than it was before, even though then it was pretty good being on Dawson's Creek. If she was just a couple of years older, she would've played Buffy, and if that got as big as it did, her career would've been set and she probably would've never married Tom Cruise. Personally i'm glad she left Tom, you know there's something wrong when two women leave a man, and are willing to give them everything except their children.

It's tough to say where she'd be today if not for TC but we know that at 26 she was doing what are considered supporting roles when she landed quality films. On top of that Batman isn't necessarily a career turner (ask Maggie) unless you play a villain and those parts are given to actors already very acclaimed. We know that she was nixed from Nolan's 2nd installment by higher-ups due to TomKats inappropriate, unprofessional display at the premier (see other Katie/Batman thread for quotes).
Cruise hasn't exactly helped her career, only time will tell if he hurt it much.

As I recall they were being demonstratively affectionate, as in advertising their engagement rather than Holmes supporting Nolan's film as any and I mean
any
professional would. Tom may have even signed autographs, don't remember. She was replaced by Maggie G.
