Old whatshisface who plays Luka is leaving at the end of series anyway. Why has Luka become such a colossal jerk recently?I know the whole Forrest Whittaker thing was a bit of a strain, but seriously, self important jumped-upsorry,ranting againI don't want Kerry to leave because she is the coolest character-the reminants of back when ER was serious telly, not some Greys Anatomy/Scrubs
influenced hybrid thing.ER has well and truly jumped the shark.Maybe Laura Innes just did not want to be associated with it any longer. She should turn up as th tenth cylon in Battlestar Galactica and truly shock everyone.Scrag match between Kerry Weaver and Laura Roslin anyone?Place your bets here!!

Ugh that sucks
I missed tonight's episodeso i guess i'll have to see it later. And to think , Weaver was just getting back into the show with her saving that choking kid and her getting her leg operation. -_-
I hope she pulls a Sherry Stringfield (Susan) and returns sometime later or atleast in a guest appearance. -

i'm really bummed she is leaving. she is great on the show. i liked at the end where she hugged abby. i have a feeling that next week's episode will be very emotional and you will see the actor's true emotions come out through their characters.

hey look at the bright side at least she gets a better goodbye than.. "tell them it's been lovely"
cuz that was down right cheesy.
but i agree.. i hadn't heard anything about laura innes leaving the show and i'm truly sad she's going!!! she is a really talented actress/director though and she's probably moving on to bigger things!! -

I was crying!!! Especially when she hugged Abby. OMG I've been in love with Weaver since I was 6 years old! (when she started) And now she's leaving.
Man.. Weaver is just amazing and I love how everyone was like "NO! They can't do that Luka can't do that!" This women/character has really helped me alot.. here I am, a gay teen looking up to someone who went through the same struggle I am dealing with. She's a real role model to me. Laura is an amazing actress and will truly be missed on this show. -

Does anyone know why she is leaving? I heard she makes $400,000 per episode - the highest paid of the cast. Maybe NBC decided to cut costs? I hate the fact that they fired Alex Kingston because she was "too old" (according to an interview with her) and just when Kerry is given more to do, she gets fired too.

I agree that Laura has done amazing work in the years that she's put into the show. Some of the work that she did surrounding having to fight for her child, or loosing Sandy (Lisa Vidal) during surgery, her conflict with coming to terms with her own sexuality, experiencing her first gay relationship with Dr. Kim Legaspi (Elizabeth Mitchell); are just a few of the big moments that I can recall seeing some powerhouse acting from her! I really thought there were some fantastic nuances that were being explored in the relationship between Sandy and Weaver, and I was really sad to see Sandy get killed off.
For Laura's final episode, I loved the scenes that she had with Abby, and for the scene that she had with Luka, I liked that she hugged Luka rather then shake his hand - - both scenes were well done! There are some fantastic actors on that show!!
Regarding her leaving, it was completely her choice. I read somewhere that she wanted like to take some time to focus on directing, and very much didn't want to be "killed off", so she could return to the show.
She'll actually be directing an ER episode in March, and does have plans to come back to the show sometime in '07, most likely the beginning of next season.
Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if she directed an episode or two of Studio 60. Many of the folks connected with Studio 60 were part of West Wing, which she directed several episodes of. In fact, she received an Emmy nominated for a West Wing episode that she directed, named Shibboleth (Season 2; 2000).
She also directed an episode of House M.D., which I really enjoyed! Maybe she'll do another episode or two for House M.D. as well - I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I guess the "bright side" of her departure is that we'll be blessed with her directing skills, and we'll be able to look forward to her return to the show sometime this year! -

I doubt she makes that much. Not that she doesn't deserve it, but Mariska Hargitay (former ER alum) just renewed her contract with SVU and will be making about $330, 000 an ep, which would make her the highest paid actress in television right now.
For of all sad words 16d0of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: 'It might have been! -

Does anyone know the reason behind Laura leaving ER? Was this her decision or TPTB? It was a big shocker to me since I haven't read any ER gossip in a while. Is this a temporary thing or will her character be gone for good?
