The general public shouldn't have access to any deadly weapon and idgaf what anyone says. Whether it be a gun, knife, crossbow.. there's absolutely no reason for anyone to be owning them.

Yes, but like anything it would take time. You could ban guns today but you wouldn't see the full benefit of it for at least a good 10 years, especially if there's over 300 million guns in the country. But you would feel good about it knowing you're changing your children's/loved one's future.

As it has been said. Criminals, gang members etc very rarely do school shootings. It’s almost always some weirdo with a legal gun, so in that sense there’s a good chance you’d stop a few shootings. Would it happen over night? Of course not. But in 20-30 years time when most guns are either defunct or out of ammo you’d see some change.
You have to start somewhere. Or live the risk of sending your kids to their death ( which obviously is very small, but higher than most if not all civilized nations)
