Zoe Saldana is appealing to white America because she's beautiful. Plus, quite simply, an increasing number of Black women are dating/marrying white men. Zoe being the romantic interest to a white male lead is reflective of this trend.

I agree and it is all about marketing and appealing to white America. Zoe Saldana is DIb68SGUSTING! The woman is BLACK LATINA but is not proud of her black heritage!
Bull! It is people like you who selectively choose quotes and then try and paint her as not being proud of her black heritage! There are countless interviews (and I'm sure you have seen them) where she has stated that she is black and proud to be. She also says she is Latina and proud to be. Both are okay because she is BLACK LATINA!
If you asked Will Smith if he was proud to be Black, he would say yes. If you also ask him if he was proud to be American, he would also say yes. Being proud to be Black and proud to be Latina is not mutually exclusive! -

My mom likes her, but I think she's a fake. She claims she's proud to be a Latina, but then gets all of these roles that portrays her as just black, not Latina. I feel people like her play the "black" part to gain an advantage. It's fine if she's Latina. It's a nationality, not a race. But she's going about it as if she doesn't want people to consider her as black. We all know you're not African-American, but you are a Black Latina.

Your post brings sadness to my heart. All of these posts judging her is just bringing stress to all of the black and latina community. I am a part of all of these as well as the jewish community. And yet "Latina. It's a nationality, not a race" just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit..
It is an identity, not a nationality. She can possess it anywhere anytime anyday due to her heritage as a person from a country with parentage that is latin. YIKES! Get some education. -

I love how half of you think you can put Zoe Saldana in her place when you clearly don't know the difference between race, ethnicity, culture and nationality. Black and Latina are NOT mutually exclusive. People of Latin origin come in all shapes, sizes and colors. If you were educated and had good sense, you would know that.

I just wish she would go away, whatever race she is this week.
Haha She does like to flip back and forth on which race she is on whatever day she feels like it. Girl has identity issues. Zoe needs to just say she's mixed, and it'll be fine. If she identifies herself as of African descent, that's cool. She can say that and call herself a Latina.

"I just wish she would go away whatever race is this week."
Aw.poor widdle jealous thing-looks like you're not gonna get your wish this week or anytime soon. But that terrible jealousy you're feeling will continue for as long as you live-and the couple seconds you indulged it here on this board probably gave you a little lift. While Zoe will continue to make blockbuster movies i.e: Star Trek 2 & 3, Avatar and many more and be desired by millions of men all over the world your petty little sad hate will endure.
be kinda wise for you to go away and find some happiness like Zoe has. And give happiness and entertainment and beauty as Zoe does with her beautiful presence. Zoe'll be around for awhile!!

Am I outraged that nearly every single mixed actor/tress downplays their european ancestry? No, I understand the defensive position the "black" community is in. But ease up on Zoe, a lot of african-descended people that come from abroad have a hard time associating with african-american culture
