This really isn't necessarily OT Watchmen is about avoiding nuclear holocaust, which should certainly qualify as horror. Also, in the graphic novel, there's that mega-Cthulhu thing.
Anyway, I just watched it again, for the first time in a few years. I $%^&*?$#@!ing love that movie. I had no idea it would make me THINK so much, the first time I saw it I figured it would just be another crazy superhero movie.
If you have read the graphic novel, tell me if you agree with this theory. I think Rorschach had a sister: the lesbian taxi driver, Josephine. She looks like Rorschach, and sometimes she talks a little like him that way Rorschach has of talking as if he was a secretary taking notes, in a sort of verbal shorthand like that. Also, Josephine has a similar no-BS personality to Rorschach. She just has no tolerance for grey areas, or endless diplomatic negotiations she is impatient with that type of thing.
I also wonder, off and on, what "alignment" you would classify each character as having, if you were playing them in Dungeons and Dragons. Like, "chaotic good," or "lawful evil," or whatever. This will only make sense to you if you ever played Dungeons and Dragons, it would take forever to explain. You could google Dungeons and Dragons alignments if you want more details you could argue over various characters, like, at first you might think Rorschach is chaotic good, but someone could disagree with that in some ways. Dr. Manhattan is getting closer to True Neutral throughout the movie, but he has little moments of Lawful Good, I would say. Laurie is probably Neutral Good, because she can countenance arguments in favor of lawful good or of chaotic good she's sort of in the middle at times.
Anyone have any thoughts on any of this?

Big fan of the book(s). Don't really like the movie at all. It's like a brainless cliff notes version and I can't stand Snyder's shallow style in it. The cast is really solid though. Except for Malin Ackerman who is astonishingly bad.

            Agree 100%.
As I watched it, I thought Snyder completely missed the point of the comic. Ultimately, I agree with Alan Moore on this one - it's a comic that works as a comic, not as a film. Too much had to be sacrificed to fit the run time for one thing (I haven't seen any special additions, btw, so that may be addressed there).
On the plus side, it was a generally 'faithful' adaptation (inasmuch as the plot is generally the same), and I didn't mind the pragmatic change to the villain's plan - the change was better for the film, I feel - and certainly a lot of effort was made to make it look right, but on the whole it was a shallow mess - no substance of note, whilst desperately trying to be worthy and preachy. A bit like most of Snyder's oeuvre, really.
And yes, Malin Ackerman was abysmal

yes, it is great, and the movie was a good adaptation, while inferior.

                  This really isn't necessarily OT
I think it is.. it's still a superhero movie no matter how you look at it. Not a fan of this, or the director.

Dawn of the Dead was okay for a remake/reboot. But yeah I agree, don't rate him as a director either.

I love both the graphic novel and the movie. One of the rare cases where a change in the movie from the book was actually way better. I thought the ending in the movie was so much better.

One of the best "comic book" movies. And I agree with jim; the movie's ending is a big improvement on the graphic novel's.

I couldn't have said it better. Well, I could, because I am me and you are you, but had I said it, I couldn't say it any better. The cast was great. Really brought the characters to life.
                          I don't think, therefore I am not.

Love the comics. The film wasas good as it could be expected to be. But I agree with Alan Moore that it shouldn't have been made, that his vision was made specifically for the comic form.
I agree with your alignment judgements. I would say that Night Owl is lawful good. Comedian was chaotic good. The real question is how do you see Ozymandias?

                                I didn't like it.
                                The soundtrack was too lax.
Bob Dylan during the opening credits, Hendrix's Watchtower song during a lift-off.
Good music that's not going to get it done.
This film needed a more aggressive atmosphere, dare I say a maddening one, to match the comedian.

I'm a fan of the comic, NOT a fan of the movie.
If Rorschach had a sister, I'm sure we would have seen her in the flashbacks. Rorschach was almost certainly an only child.
