Oh wow, I didn't expect anybody outside of the US would even be aware of him

That's always a plus! Were it not for one of my exes I definitely wouldn't know **** about rap beyond very, very mainstream stuff.

And here's a guy who died way too young exactly 17 years before I was born, with the first recorded version of a song he may have helped to write.

Omfg….you probably won't believe this, but I originally had a Chic song lined up for your birthday (because we talked about disco this week), but decided last minute to introduce you instead to a few artists you may never have heard of.
Oooh. Particularly glad you like Tonbruket. Swedish band. Seen them live, they're really good.
In fact, I should have posted something from the album they did with Swedish country type artist Christian Kjellvander called Doom Country. I think you'd like it. Tonbruket is an instrumental band, classified as Swedish jazz but they're not exactly straightforward jazz.
