Hitchcock's Films - A Ranking

We're on the same page except for The 39 Steps. I've seen 24 Hitchcock films but have never seen this one. I note that it has a very good IMDB rating of 7.9. Even more impressive is the no. of voters - over 32,000. Also, I see that it's available on youtube so I plan on watching it soon.

I don't like Rope as much as you do. I would rate it top 15 of Hitchcock's films, not top 5.
Of course, it's still Hitchcock which means it's very suspenseful and has some great plot twists.

   EDIT: Now have watched The Trouble With Harry, Lifeboat and Rope. The Trouble With Harry becomes my 5th favorite Hitchcock ahead of Notorious.

Actually, I must revise my list as follows:

8. The Man Who Knew Too Much
9. North by Northwest
10. Suspicion
    It's possible that Strangers on a Train should be ranked higher on my list. Great acting, many plot twists, great set pieces.

Well, sometimes someone likes a film and convinces you to watch it. Recently, on another board, a person recommended I watch "Brief Encounter." I found it on youtube, watched it, and enjoyed it immensely.
On this board, someone ranked "The 39 Steps" in their top 5 which makes me want to see it. Alas, I have not done so yet but I will watch it soon.
Other than that, It'ts interesting to see if other people agree with your picks.

I love how we can all appreciate Hitch, but in different ways. I love the one you don't, and your favorite is not one of my own. Just shows us how broad his appeal was and still is.
My favorite 10 are:

1. Psycho

4. Mr. and Mrs. Smith
5. Rear Window
6. The Trouble with Harry
7. Lifeboat
8. Dial M for Murder
9. Rebecca
10. Spellbound
    I really could go on and on, but these are what I'm most likely to watch on any given day. Having said that, I watched Shadow of a Doubt and Strangers on a Train today and loved them as well.
