A good friend and neighbor of mine would like a copy for his
infirm mom who was quite the lady about town in Phenix City in 'the
day'.
I would like to see it myself, as my interest in films very much centers
on noirish and gritty social realities. -

I am married to one of the granddaughters of Hoyt Sheppard, the kingpin of Phenix City gambling and other enterprises "in the day".
I have never seen the movie legitimately offered in DVD, but if any of you know of it being issued I'd appreciate it if you'd post it here. -

They did release a copy. Very nice clean transfer from what appears to be original film stock. Impressed with the quality though the sound (near the end) is uneven. The disc, offered by WB, includes two films. "The Phenix City Story" and "Dial 1119."
Watta ya lookn here for?
