Okay it's a horror for a reason. Thats the narrative. That's why I think her mom was tripping like that. She knew her daughter was evil, and didn't know what else to do about the situation. Mom was ignorant. It's not like her mom could take Carrie to a doctor or something. The genius part of the story was that it sympathized with that evil girl.

Sissy was stressed about appearing nude. She lost weight so she would be real small.
Sort of like trying to make herself smaller so as not to be noticed

She was also a lot older than the teen she was playing, so I'd say it was to look more the part as well. Apparently Spacek kept away from the rest of the cast too, to keep her in character.

          I just read this too
Sissy Spacek insisted that her hand be the one reaching up from the ground below the vandalized "for sale" sign in the final scene of "Carrie." As Sue Snell (Amy Irving) kneels to place flowers below the cross that crudely states "Carrie White Burns in Hell!", a bloody arm bursts from the ground to grab her. She screams and thrashes about, inconsolable as she wakes up from the nightmare.

See, this is why I sent you that PM about a certain poster. People who say mean or even uncharitable things about my girl and I immediately think they may not be very nice people.
            Remember what I wrote?
And, everything else aside, "Carrie" is a work of fiction. And this is where suspension of disbelief comes into play. If somebody is going to not enjoy a movie like "Carrie" because they can't accept at face value the position that the lead character finds herself to be in then they probably should avoid these kinds of movies.
Whatever. Most movies do ask that you accept a certain amount of disbelief.
If I wanted to get real picky, I could say that the movie "Jaws" was very unrealistic because the way the shark attacks were depicted in the film is not how sharks attack people in real life.
And how realistic are movies like "Halloween" or "Friday the 13th" or "A Clockwork Orange" or "The Dead Zone" or even the 50s sitcom "I Love Lucy"?

The opening post is a troll sock pretending to be MMC2, the v is different in his title name. This has been happening a lot here. I had some ass do it to me a couple of weeks ago and used the same avatar, but called themselves ToasterCheese….
              I got them deleted.

Exactly and the scenario King depicted with Carrie in his book and De Palma depicted in the movie explains its because Carrie was sheltered by her mother and it was still feasible, especially since she hadn't experienced a period herself.
While an argument could be made that she would have still been somewhat socialized due to aggregating at school, Carrie kept herself away from the others, no doubt at her mother's instigation, would have been excused from certain classes due to personal belief and was friendless due to other kids keeping away from her. She was difficult to reach.
Its a moot argument with Carrie's scenario and it seems pointless in others bringing it up. It was accepted for its time.

                Well she was gorgeous 😍.
Carrie reminds me a lot of a girl in high school I had a huge crush on.
                Beautiful but shy and quiet.

She was but I don't think she needed that nose job. That much of a change makes you not look like yourself

I agree, Cheeky. Her original nose looks so much better. I wish she'd kept it.

That b&w image on the left doesn't even look like Spacek. I wouldn't be able to tell it was her.

Exactly. It's your nose that makes you look like yourself. Change it too much and you no longer like like "you"
