DOA is hardly a lesser known noir. Good grief

I'm a big fan of noir but I don't frequently watch them anymore. I dislike gambling on titles I'm not reasonably confident in. And –after a while exploring the field –"sure picks" get fewer and fewer.
Nothing worse than a noir which is mishandled and botched.
Therefore I tend to only tryout new titles based on solid recommendations from knowledgeable cronies –ones I trust –who are well-versed in the format.
This past year: I sought out Zachary Scott in
            "Guilty Bystander
". I was disappointed with it, but it was still a win to see Zach Scott as a sympathetic good guy.
On the other paw, I took a risk on a Brit-Noir (Brits are so deft in the 40s-50s) and was supremely well-rewarded.
            I chose "
            Never Let Go
". A young Richard Todd leads, and a young Peter Sellers is the villain. Simply phenomenal.
One of the best noirs I've ever enjoyed.

I appreciate that someone such as yourself went to the trouble of writing out his viewpoint on noir, and posted it on a webpage, and encourages others to an exchange of ideas. Commendable; laudable. Bravo to this approach.
I myself happen to disagree –in a completely gentle, harmless way –with the theory of noir you set forth. There's utterly no rancor in my disagreement; no disrespect for your take on it. I just happen to believe in a 100% opposite angle towards the matter.
I might yap about it here sometime. Still exploring the site since I'm new.
