A couple of odd things about that scene: The whip welts on Aura's back look pretty realistic, but the whip itself looks fake like something you'd buy in a BDSM shop. Also, it's obvious that those hand-shaped things aren't really holding her down. She could have escaped easily if she wanted to. Do you think she was into it? As Klytus says later in the movie, "Interesting girl. I think she found it rather enjoyable." -

I think the fact that it looks so fake is a big part of its titilating aspect. I had no idea what i was looking at when i was a kid, but i was captivated by it. Real BDSM is quite frightening to me. I think she was into it and Klytus was a master in the true sense of the word in that realm.

I must have been about 17 when I first saw the scene with the lovely Princess Aura getting whipped. I agree that it was TOTALLY hot. There was something about those red stripes appearing across her smooth bare back, and her beautiful face awash with tears that really pushed my buttons.
I was quite surprised that they got away with a PG rating for that movie, but then, such scenes could frequently be found in the old comic-strips from the 1930s. I think that they went over most people's heads.
It makes you wonder just how many adolescent boys were warped for life as a result of those old-time 'Flash Gordon', 'Buck Rogers' and 'Doc Savage' serials! -

Indeed! To be quite honest I was rather hoping that the Princess would take a a few lashes across her tushie too. But I guess that pulling down those red spandex pants would have pushed the movie into an 'R' rating! Oh well

A rookie mistake, Banjo. The lash or switch should always be applied to the bare skin. Otherwise there's a risk of fibre geting into the welts and causing an infection. Very nasty!
However, if the lovely Kala had employed a paddle or a tawse, that would have been a different story. She could have gone to town on the seat of Aura's pants without fear of causing anything more serious than a few blisters! Imagine the look on Aura's face when Kala cracked the leather down. You GO girl!

It wouldn't be her choice, Johny. It would be Ming's. That is the whole point of forcing her to display her glowing buns. To reinforce - and indeed - accentuate her total humiliation.
It would be very difficult for Aura to swan so imperiously around the royal court while she is, so to speak, blushing at both ends!
