The essence of the 80's - RAMBO movies! I think Rambo: First Blood Part II is the greatest action film ever made.

Back to the Future probably. I didn't really like the 80's. I liked the 70's better.

I've been around on this planet for close to 3 decades now and I still haven't got around to watching Scarface yet!
Update: I've finally seen it now and remedied this problem. Saw it a a month or so ago!

For pure entertainment, it has to be Beverly hills cop. From an artistic viewpoint, id have to say Raging Bull.Specila mention has to be made for Scarface as well.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned The Terminator and the Indiana Jones trilogy yet. Those would take my vote.

After the Star Wars films, I'd say that Aliens, Raiders of the lost Ark, Terminator, and the Hunt for Red October are the best of the 80s. But I think Beverly hills cop would probably be in my top 10 or 15 for the 80s

Star Wars was 1977. I think Empire was 1980 and Jedi was what 84 so I guess they qaulify. And what about the Fright Night films and the Road Warrior and Silver Bullet?

                                        1984's The Terminator ROCKS INSANELY
                                        1982's 48 Hours is outstanding
                                        1989's Batman (Keaton and Nicholson)
                                        1985's Commando
                                        1984's Gremlins
                                        1982's Poltergiest
All of these films are CLASSICS from the 80's.
                                        I loved the 80's man !
