Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Streets of Fire

For Ellen, I'd cast Ke$ha, though I'd also consider Solange. I'd also put Bruno Mars in it.
I have always adored the styling of this film, but I think for a remake, there would be a lot more choreography.

A remake would be terrible and that casting is a joke.
Part of what makes this film work is its 80s style and music. A modern remake wouldn't work.

The problems with remakes is that they continue to prove Hollywood has no more original ideas.

A contemporary remake simply wouldn't work because a new
          Streets of Fire
would be representative of contemporary tastes and styles and what makes the original Streets stand out is that it represents the zeitgeist of the 1980s in which 1980s styles is infused with a 50ish flavor and that's what makes THAT movie stand out and can NOT be replicated.

This film doesn't need a remake. It's fine the way it is.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
