By jove! I think he's got it. One of the problems with the film is that audiences think it is a straight horror film, when it is really a horror comedy with more than one type of comedy at play in it. From the verbal comedy of Eve Trent's (Oxenberg's) "Me spotted dick!" and Lord James' (Grant's) "Slither in!" to the vaudeville comedy of Lady Sylvia (Donohoe) and Kevin (Pitt) to the drawingroom comedy of Lord James (Grant) and Lady Sylvia (Donohoe.) Actually, Ken Russell, the director, played records of Sir Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence for Hugh Grant and Amanda Donohoe to give them some idea of how he wanted the scene to play out. No, it is a comedy, and one of the better ones out there (IMHO.)

9/10 tempted to give it 10 though. This is my all time favourite Ken Russell film. It contains everything a Ken Russell film should have, classic! I've loved it since the first moment I channel-hopped onto it as a teenager. He is an acquired taste and I can see why some people just don't 'get' this film, he is in the marmite genre.

Loved it. I gave it a nine. It was well directed and very memorable. Only reason I gave this a nine and not a ten is because I thought the ending was sort of a let down.
I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.
u ar not horror fans, thats fact
