Robin Williams Has demonstrated at times that he has serious acting talent, even when playing a "dead serious" role quite the opposite of his usual comic roles. For instance, I recall him playing an enraged bereaved husband (or was that a bereaved father whose daughter was killed? foggy memory here) on some TV show or another. I didn't see Mork, I saw the character he was playing
He also played a creepy stalker in Insomnia and 24 hour photo.
Someone mentioned Arnold Schwarzenegger and Steven Seagal. I disagree very strongly asd both those guys are badasses.
I noticed at least 90% of the examples given on this thread are comic actors.

But people can relocate from one place to another, can't they? I as a New Yorker have known plenty of folks who came here from other places - including the same Southeast that is the setting of "Cape Fear".

I am seeing quite a few repeats, here. Also some haphazard inclusions of female actors. I should think it's a given that only a male could play this role. With that said, my choices:
James Stewart
Mickey Rooney
Gene Kelly
Ed Wynn
Zach Braff
Peter Allen
Peter Dinklage -

Didn’t he play a psychopath in One Hour Photo?
