Yep, I said it. Part 6 is much better than part 2. At least FD actually had an actual story and continuity that made sense. Part 2 was just a bunch of pages being shot. It was the most disconnected film of the series, and I'm not just talking about how it contradicted the whole premise of the Freddy character. The actual movie itself awkwardly jumps from scene to scene. Freddy's Dead looks like Citizen Kane compared to Freddy's Revenge.

Strongly disagree I just watched Freddy's Dead last night, and while I enjoyed it a LOT more than the first time I saw it, it's nowhere near as good as Freddy's Revenge.
At least in Freddy's Revenge, Freddy was still a dark, menacing figure. In this, he's fun to watch but he's portrayed in such a cartoonish manner. It's an okay movie, but it definitely goes full retard at times.
I'll always have a weird soft spot for Freddy's Revenge it's got this awesome 80's atmosphere, mixed with the no-so-subtle gay subtext, and easily my favorite score of any Nightmare film. Freddy's Dead is fun, but I would have loved to see Peter Jackson's version, that sounded much more interesting. -

I don't think so honey. Part 2 is one of the best sequels in the series. A lot of people's issue with it is the gay vibe it gives, but look past that you have a truly terrifying movie. Freddy is at his scariest and his make-up is the best in the series. Hell, his demise at the end is even a torture to see as he just melts like crazy. I think you can give this movie a lot more credit. Part 6 is where it's pretty bad. It's too light, comedic, Freddy doesn't look scary, and the plotline could have used a bit more work. You can tell they really didn't try to make this one spectacular and just wanted it to be over.

Agree that Dead is better than Revenge. The only thing that movie has going for it is its dark atmosphere, everything else about it fails. The writing and direction on it was terrible. You can literally swim in its plotholes and glitches. There were hordes of random and stupid things that happened that didn't really make sense, or were woefully executed. NLC literally slapped together that movie for the sake of getting a sequel out to capitalize on the momentum of the original, but it was dastardly poor by comparison.
The execution of Dead is rather poor too, but that's only because of certain creative choices they made (like the 3D nonsense and going too far with the hilarity aspect), but the script, story and overall production is FAR superior to Revenge and is actually one of the more solid of the series, after parts 1, 3 and 7. -

Its no way as good as Freddya revenge there's only 3 q nightmare on elm street to me thats the original 3 the rest suck Freddy vs Jason I enjoyed but nightmare on elm street remake was naff need Robert.englund

Part 2 is one of my favorites of the series. At one time, it was actually my exact favorite.
The narrative in the first half is a little weak, but it makes up for it with creepy atmosphere and some funny scenes.
I love the pool party and the sequence in Grady's bedroom. Some of the best stuff of the whole series. -

Freddy's Dead did a better job of what Freddy's Revenge tried to do, but couldn't:
Be its own movie that largely detached from the plot of the original, while still having a significant enough connection to what was already established.
Even though like FR, FD uses no previously established characters (like most of the other sequels did), it still flows better because you can BELIEVE what they're telling you that Freddy has essentially wiped out that entire town based on what you already know of him, and that he now needs another territory to stalk to continue his evil work. It also does a semi-decent job of expanding on Krueger's own backstory and how he came to be.
By comparison, FR just has so many glaring unanswered questions, loose ends and mythology errors that it becomes impossible to try and piece it to the rest of the series, or even make sense of it for what it is. Were Jesse's parents part of the mob that killed Freddy? How about Lisa's or Grady's? Why did Freddy go out of his way to kill Coach Schneiderwas HE part of the mob? What ever happened to the FR characters, did they live or die? And why was Jesse's/Freddy's house so deserted and dilapidated by Dream Warriors, when it was only a year later? That whole film leaves so many things hanging and unexplained that it's this giant beep of run-on subjectivity with no real conclusions or closure. It's almost like the movie essentially erases itself at the end and none of its events actually happened.
When it comes to sit-down-and-watch entertainment, I actually prefer FR to FD. despite its many, many glitches, I still find it more captivating. And I like the dreadful mood of it (I think it even bests the original in that department) but from a "critical thinking" standpoint, yeah Freddy's Dead IS the superior of the two. -

EVERYTHING is better than Freddy's Revenge except for that awful remake. Dream Warriors literally saved the series after Revenge threatened to end it.
Agreed. DW absolutely breathed new life into what could have very quickly crashed and burned after the clusterf#ck that was part two.
