I must be the only one who likes this more than TDKR

Frankly this movie, The Animated Series and the Arkham Games are all better than any of the Live Action movies. I felt the only Live Action film that got batman remotely right was Batman Begins. Hell Batman had Better Detective skills in the 1966 Batman series then in all of TDK or TDKR.

I hated TDKR. It was too long, 1000 plots that weren't needed and it suffers from the typical Nolan weakness, the "analysis" of these so called "deep" films are presented in front of the viewer instead of it being like normal people talking and letting the analysis work itself out for the viewer. In that sense it fails as a "realistic portrayal of Batman" and it fails as a blockbuster because nothing about the film allows you to relax.
Mask Of The Phantasm, I only hated one thing about it. The pacing is too fast; I know this was back in the day of hand drawn animation but much of the love scenes are too fast that they never get a chance to breathe. Besides that, I enjoyed just about everything. The voice acting is virtually flawless, the animation is fantastic, the story is top notch (although it still could've worked as a 3 part episode in the show), I would rate it as my 2nd favourite Batman film. Right under the 1989 one.

I like this more as well, but I still enjoy DARK KNIGHT RISES. I'm not sure which film I prefer, this or DARK KNIGHT. This animated Batman/Bruce Wayne is still the best in my opinion. I've never really be a Christian Bale Batman fan, and it's not just his voice. His Bruce Wayne seems to be a terrible business man, and he pretty much gives up Batman. One of the things I like about BATMAN FOREVER actually was that it was the first time Bruce really embraced Batman, not as a way to avenge his parents, but because he can do good in the world.
I don't think there needs to be a love story at all in a Batman film, and frankly that whole thing with Rachel in the Nolan trilogy was stupid. Bruce should've known since BATMAN BEGINS they had no future together.

As this thread has already proven, you're definitely not alone.
Mask of the Phantasm
is not only my favourite
Batman
movie, but my favourite superhero movie at all. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even really like Batman.

best to worst,
- Batman 89
- Batman Begins
- Mask of the Phantasm
- Returns
- Dark Knight
- Batman 66
- Forever
- Batman and Robin
- TDKR
Not even joking. TDKR is a huge dissapointment and the worst batman film I've ever seen.

Funny coming from someone who has Schumacher's Batman movies rated above TDKR. You have no credibility with movie tastes after that.
You probably think Halle Berry's Catwoman is better than 2012's The Avengers. -

TKDR was just too convoluted. It seems Nolan tried to put a 2 movies story into one. The result was a mess with some good moments.
I liked Phantasm, but I don't see the big deal. The love story was too corny and the Phantasm itself was like, to quote another IMDB user, "a Scooby Doo vilain".
The bits about Bruce's internal struggle and the Joker were great, though.
