This movie is as good as Tarantino's best in it's own way.

        Apparently.
Get Shorty is a parody of criminal elements involved in the film industry. It's technically a good film, but for the uninformed, like my ex-girlfriend, it's almost a documentary. And for anyone who thinks that any element in Get Shorty is a serious portrayal of the film industry, then you're living in a dream world, and may need professional help.
Better than Tarantino's work? No. Different genres altogether.

I guess the OP is referring to the style and dialog of this movie being Tarantinoish.
Interesting fact: Travolta was going to pass on this role but Tarantino (who had just directed him in Pulp Fiction) advised him to take it.
