After this movie came out I began mixing mayo and ketchup together and putting it on all fast food items (burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken strips, etc). It's something I still do to this day, although doing the same with ranch dressing has nearly taken its place! Anyone have any similar stories?

What you're making is called fry sauce. It's very popular in Idaho and Utah. They even bottle it and sell it here in the condiment aisle of the grocery store! When I worked at Arby's people asked for it all the time, but we didn't have it in packages. When I told the customers they could mix mayo and ketchup to get fry sauce, they'd usually get this disgusted look on their faces and say, "Ew, no way." Well. That's fry sauce, people! Ketchup and mayo. Sounds weird, but is actually delicious. Now I want some fries with fry sauce!

When I was a kid we used to make our own 'fry sauce' in the school cafeteria. It consisted of mixing two packs of ranch dressing, two packs of Texas Pete, two packs of Mustard, two packs of ketchup, and salt and pepper if I remember correctly. Haven't had it in a while but it was good. Maybe I will make it again sometime. I like to think that's what Ed's Sauce tasted like.
