something from the movie that i did not get: were sharon (j-lo's character) and larry supposed to be siblings?
If so, isn't it kinda weird how sharon is hispanic and larry is white? even if let's say, the mom is hispanic and the dad is white, wouldn't both sharon and larry turn out somewhere in the middle? -

NO.
Kids don't "even out"
A black mom and a white dad for example could easily produce children that appeared white, black or mixed. Twins have been born who appear to be different race. Although both are mixed, their features can vary.

Considering that Sonia Braga (Brazilian) and Victor Argo (Puerto Rican parents) are also Latino or Hispanic, Jeremy Sisto is the odd one out being Italian American. I don't understand why people think they were an Italian American family anyway. Was it referred to specifically in the film? The surname POGUE is Scottish.
I had no problem accepting the actors as a family. Jennifer Lopez and Sonia Braga looked like they could have been mother and daughter. Lopez and Sisto didn't resemble each other but not all siblings look like each other. (Princes William and Harry don't

The bald punk calls her a sexy senorita, so I think the character is supposed to be hispanic or latino, so it's the Jeremy Sisto character that is a little odd casting. That being said, casting J-lo is always odd.

Oh, dear.
The theory of genetics that Mendel discovered and which is always taught in high school biology completely concerns a genetic trait (short and tall, concerning beans) governed by a single gene pair.
Human skin, eye, and hair colour are each governed by multiple gene pairs. That's why there is such a variety of shades in the range of colour of those features. Thus, if both your parents have blue eyes, but you happen to get from them all their darkest genes for eyes, your eyes can end up a lot darker than your blue-eyed parents' eyes. This would be unusual but it's not impossible. -

Dude, Hispanic or latino is not a different race. Some Hispanics are plain white and others are mixed. It's not uncommon for some siblings to look more white or be darker than others. Try to get some knowldge under your belt.

Latino is a diffrent race. some people say that latinos are just white people that speak spanish and thats not true. I have latino in me (im part puerto rican) and i do not consider that part of me white.

It's really an American thing to care too much about those things, who cares what they are in real life, they're actors , they're playing a part she doesn't have to be a latino in all her movies she can pass for many other nationality.

Very true. Race seems to be a big topic in America and i don't think thats necessary. Who cares about ur race/backgroud everyone should be treated the same no matter where your from. sounds soo sappy i know, but its the truth.
oh and p.s> im not america, i'm canadian =]
