Before I re-watched it yesterday I read a lot of comments on how poor the f/x were, but that moment was the clincher. Even by 2002 standards that was embarrassingly bad.

Honestly we where not able to do much better back then. However it is very poorly integrated and feels completely unnecessary which increases my and I would think many others issue with it.
