A piece of art that claims to be more important than it actually is would be pretentious. I haven't seen Sin City yet, but my assumption is that it's just a regular comic book movie with a unique visual style to make it seem more interesting or important than it actually is. Hence pretentious. I could be wrong about the movie itself being pretentious, it could be a really good film. But I'm not wrong about the definition of pretentious. -

I am not an idiot since the root is "pretend" and the definition is about PRETENDING, so I win this round, lol.
Meanwhile, you can't seem to define what the filmmakers actually ARE vs what they are PRETENDING to be, so why not go ahead and tell me.
They made a movie that's a reproduction of a comic book, so who ARE the filmmakers really?
Fun Fact: Frank Miller wrote the comic and directed the movie.
