How come no sequel

Just because a movie is good or successful doesn't mean there needs to be a sequel. Why isn't there a sequel to Titanic (successful) or 5th Element (good - eventually cult classic).
Sometimes a movie says all it needs to say.
As a massive fan of this movie, I feel I could only be disappointed in a sequel.
The only sequel I can think of (I'm sure there are more) where I was alive when it came out in theatre AND I liked it better/as much as the original was Blade II ( beep part 3). If a Mc dies, hard to make a sequel. A prequel would be interesting though. -

I also liked Blade II better than Blade.

The Tenth Doctor explains all.
