7.9 rating, really?

Completely agree. It's like Commando, except it doesn't have Arnie or that many cheesy moments, which is what makes it sorta watchable.
The action scenes were pretty good, but man it lacks everything else. Still a very crappy movie.
The pop star ending thing nearly made me slit my wrists. -

Judging by the rating people, like me, simply found this movie incredibly fun and brutal. I loved how focused and unreal the lead character was in his efficiency and brutally. Its what most people imagine being like when a loved one is hurt or wronged. Admit it, we all have had these Rambo fantasies at least once in our lives and this movie delivered on that in a more real world setting. A high rating doesn't have to mean a Oscar winner.

I've said this countless times before, but it's always needed: there are few things that are dumber than acting as if you were smarter than others just because you have different taste in movies. Your comment makes you look much more stupid than the people you are criticising.

Lol no no, no no no. Fair enough if we were talking about a top 250-esque film here.
But Taken is categorically super derivative, unrealistic, melodramatic, borderline racist, predictable schmultz, and that doesn't even touch the subjective things like direction - these be facts.
And you know EXACTLY what it feels to dislike a movie 'for idiots' so don't go pretending Battleship, Transformers 3 and Movie 43 are great films. you jst haven't yet realised this movie is one of those types. just listen to the dialogue ! -

He only looks stupid to you because you disagree with him. In reality, people who enjoy this movie are generally very simple-minded. Very easy to satisfy. The sort of people who go and watch every goddamn Marvel movie they put out. The sort of people who feel intellectual for the first time after they have been watching a Christopher Nolan film. The sort of people who listen to Drake. I could go on and on.

Have you seen the movies here with ratings above 8 and 9? compared to most of them this is a masterpiece. This movie doesn't want to outsmart you or test your intelligence. It's a good old revenge action thriller that doesn't drag and gets audience at any level involved due to the subject it handles. If it was a ransom movie, it would be a disaster, probably!

I agree, I didn't really even find this film watchable to be honest. It was beep crap! Terrible writing, just ridiculous. Some Imdb ratings make me keel over with laughter, this would be one of them.

You must be kidding? I didn't know whether to laugh or just throw up during the set up. This film is cheesy as hell in my view. Barely a single scene in the film seemed even remotely believable to me, more like laughable. Not all people look for the same things in films though. If you liked it, great, good for you. Neither view is right or wrong, just a difference in view. Some cheesy films work for me too, for some reason or another. We all find different ways to relate to different things. If we were all the same and all loved and hated the same exact things, it would likely make for a very boring world.

I agree with the second part of your post, but do you realize that you didn't really tell me anything about the film? I asked you WHY is the script terrible, especially when compared to any other action movie (including the classics), but you just told me that the film is cheesy and unbelievable. That doesn't tell me anything. Why is it more unbelievable than other action movies? What particular plot points seemed particularly ridiculous to you and why?

Lmao, seriously man? What the beep are you smoking? If that doesn't "tell you anything", then there is likely little hope for you. Obviously I should have just stopped after the "Are you kidding me?", part of my reply. As it is I've spent 7 years trying to forget this film and that I actually wasted money on this crap, lol. You my friend obviously have way too much time on your hands.

And you are still not telling me anything See, our conversation has gone something like this:
- This movie is ridiculous and unbelievable.
- Why?
- Are you kidding me? It is ridiculous and unbelievable.
- Ok. But specifically why?
- LMAO, seriously man? It is ridiculous and unbelievable.
You haven't said anything of worth in any of your posts. You keep using baseless adjectives without explaining why you think that way. In this last reply of yours you just keep talking about how much crap the film is without answering my question: WHY. Specifically, why is it more unbelievable than other action movies? What particular plot points seemed particularly ridiculous to you and why?

I get it bud, you're mentally challenged and really love Taken. You're the kind of person who if you don't get the response you want, then you cry about it and claim the person said, "Nothing of worth". You would think by now that you would at least realize that plot points are not my problem with the film at all, however you still insist that they must be. Calling you narrow minded would be the understatement of the year. Common sense and a good understanding of English is obviously something you severely lack. If you look back for instance, I only said the film was ridiculous once, and unbelievable once in my next post. Go ahead though, invent your own fake conversation and pretend you're having it with someone, see if I give a beep. Good luck with your mental issues.

Oh God. and you are calling ME mentally challenged? My point wasn't that you literally said the words "unbelievable" and "ridiculous" several times. The "conversation" I wrote was meant to be a summary of our discussion, not our entire discussion and not the exact quotes. My point was that you keep using baseless adjectives without answering the question I'm asking you, and those baseless adjectives mean the exact same in all your posts: that the film is crap, ridiculous and unbelievable. You keep making the same points (even if you are not using literally the same words) without answering the questions I'm making and you are apparently expecting me to accept that the film is "crap", "ridiculous" and "unbelievable" just because you say so.
Do you want me to be more literal in my summary so you can take a look at how much of NOTHING your argument is? Ok, then our conversation literally went something like this (just a summary):- This movie is crap and ridiculous.
- Why is it crap and why is it more ridiculous than other action movies?
- Are you kidding me? The film is cheesy and unbelievable.
- Ok. But specifically why is it more unbelievable than other action movies? Why is it crap?
- LMAO, seriously man? What are you smoking?
- Ok but you still haven't told me WHY, specifically, is it more unbelievable than other action movies.
- You are mentally challenged, you have no common sense, you have no understanding of english, you are not getting my point.
If you say in a discussion board that a film's writing is "crap", the bare minimun people will expect from you is that you be able to explain why, and not by appealing to other baseless adjectives (like ridiculous, unbelievable or cheesy), but by actually mentioning the specific points in the script that make it terrible and whatnot.
Really, after reading the kind of "arguments" you have, I can't help but laugh at this post of yours:
Every time I look at the top 250 on here I just can't help but laugh. Much of the world is stuck in a state of idiocy.
HAHAHAHAHA Yes, the world is stuck in idiocy, but NOT because people like different movies than you. Oh no, believe me, speaking of the problem of people's idiocy, your posts are a bigger part of the problem than the fact that people like other movies than the ones you like.
