For all those who like the idea of Karl Urban as Marston (he was my first choice as well, but I do like the idea of Brolin)

BTW, I think I heard that the producers were actually considering Brad Pitt for the role of John Marston. Think I heard that on GameSpot.

Brad Pitt as Marston would be pretty awful.
Okay, that's a bit unfair maybe, but when there are other actors so much better suited to the role the idea of Pitt playing Marston just loses all appeal

Absolutely! I came here specifically to suggest him. This one scene is the only proof you need:
Josh Brolin seems more like the overly obvious (and typecasted) choice. And he probably wouldn't want to play another cowboy after Jonah Hex anyway.
