Of course, it could. Pluto got reclassified as a "dwarf planet." Idiots with scientific degrees could reclassify pedophilia as a sexual orientation just as easily.

There are many who say no. What is interesting, though, is that there is a group of mental health clinicians, part of a group called B4U-Act. Based out of Baltimore, they are psychiatrists and psychologists who deal with pedophiles in a clinical environment.
Two of their recommendations are:
To have pedophilia removed from the APA list of disorders.
To have pedophilia established as a separate and distinct sexual orientation.
There are also people who believe that pedophilia is not the danger to children, but rather the taboo against pedophilia placed against it by society.
Around 2003, a woman named Judith Levine published a book called "Harmful to Minors" which argued this point, that children do not suffer from sexual intimacy with adults, but rather from the stigma and taboo that our culture places on such relationships.
So, while many people will still say no and, perhaps, you say no, just remember - this is pretty much exactly the path that homosexuality took on its journey to "normalcy" and "acceptability". -

There are many cases of pedophilia urges being caused by brain tumors, hmm. But I suppose sexuality encompasses all, even the more taboo and frowned upon, sexuality is the brain, after all, what we're attracted to, no different to a sociopath desiring to kill. What are your thoughts? -
