This isn't a moviethis is a video game with the controller on autopilot. Banal plot with banal characters. I expect the remake will simply be called "Level 2"the exact same movie with the bad guys carrying pistols instead of machetes. Level 3 - Uzis, Level 4 - bazookas, etc I really lost faith in IMDB ratings with this "movie."

I don't really understand what you mean, but I myself rated it 6 only because of the exciting fighting scenes. The acting (besides the fighting) is terrible, the dialogues look so corny and stiff. The expression of the actors are terrible too.

And I know too the people who gave this 1/10 or 2/10. They are people who just made an account in IMDB and wrote only in The Raid board. They are also who underestimated The Raid while gave another movie like Taken 8/10, etc
They're all not credible and cannot see a movie as merely entertainment ("everything must have deep meaning" typical" -

I honestly don't get people hating & trolling this movie. i myself found it to be beyond fantastic. I thought it was a combination of Apocalypto's pacing & Die Hard's setting, & that's from someone who usually doesn't like action films for the action alone. I gave this a 10/10 plus it has rewatchability factor which will bring me back to multiple viewings.

I agree 100%
This film is a masterpiece in its genre. I would rate it a solid 8 easily.
I suppose that the people who wants to rate it low because it doesnt have good dramatic acting would rate low too a drama because it doesnt have good action scenes. -

The problem with this rating is that its not high enough. Should be at least 8.8/10. Action is superbly edited, plot is basic but so what, its not a drama. The majority of users who gave this film a poor rating most probably watched the dubbed version which to be fair is for film fans that cant read.

I for one can appreciate a film like this along side recent films as Detachment or Holy Motors (no connection, just namedropping) and I'm still unsure what you're trying to get across in your main post. Yes, it has little to no plot, though the little dialogue there is decent enough (at least if you've seen the Indonesian version, the dubbed version is utter crap, couldn't even get the sound effects timed right) but the main point in this film is the action. And the action is insanely well choreographed in the knife & hand to hand combat scenes as well as the gun fights. In the end it's little more than an 80 minute adrenaline rush but it's done really well in that area.
so thank you for your comments as well, I now know to take your OP with a grain of elitist salt. -

Lol what an ignorant comment to make. You're probably the kind of person who thinks that all movies that are focused mainly on action sequences are automatically bad.
I've watched (and enjoyed) a lot of the top rated films from every genre from the past 20-30 years, and I think this movie is great. I'm not an action junkie by any means and in fact I prefer movies with a good plot and characters to everything else, but to dismiss this film because these two points are relatively weak is ignorant.
The reason this film is highly rated by both critics and viewers (and the reason why I liked it) is because it does two things very well - the action scenes are wonderfully filmed/choreographed, and the movie is paced very well. Although the "creative" portion of the film is weak (as is usual with action movies) the sheer amount of entertainment you get out of it makes up for it. This movie easily deserves 7-9/10. -

this not level based, this is based on people have a different taste..
maybe you like drama, but i like action, and the other like thriller, that's why they classified every movies to some genre ..
i put some another example, Bruce Lee film about martial art has been re-modified by Jackie Chan .. and i like Jackie Chan version, because it's mix with action, and touchy, funny scene, not just a brutal fight or one man show fighting ..
and this rating is not math that 1 x 2 = 2, like i'm smart than you but i like drama, and you like a detective film .. -

The Fk does that mean..?
I though the movie was absolutely balls to the wall action packed and fun.
And I'm also dying to see "Macbeth" later this year. What level person does that make me?
