yep great album. it does have a valley tho of like 2-3 weaker tracks when the amazing run before slows down for some cringey soul singing lol but it picks up again then runs with the briliiant production, writing, flow, and flawless rapping. all these crazy beat switch ups are ****ing genius and JID has such an uniquely energetic flow on top of this off kilter and wobbly yet dark bumbling volatile beat. that is simply one-of-a kind technique only JiD masters, adopting a flow and voice he has never done before, erratic and totally insane. there's only one rapper like JID and that's JID
i mean come on, listen to this and then tell me i'm lying. i fgging dare you.
what are your fav tracks on the album? these are mine lol
Community (feat. Clipse) (v)
YouUgly (feat. Westside Gunn)
Of Blue (feat. Mereba)
On McAfee (feat. Baby Kia)
Sk8 (feat. Ciara & EarthGang)
K-Word (feat. Pastor Troy)
WRK (v)
Gz
Glory
VCRs (feat. Vince Staples)
and yet, The Forever Story remains JID's masterpiece which will be really hard to beat, as one of the most defining hip hop albums of the 2020s..

So, like I said, "Community" showed up in my recommended videos and I listened to it first. Then "VCRs" was suggested right beside it. Hearing those two prompted me to check out the entire album. "On McAfee" and "K-Word" are the others that instantly made my playlist on first listen, but as with all great albums something new catches my ear with every listen. "Sk8" and "YouUgly" are definitely standouts. Honestly I'd agree with most of your list.
I definitely agree that there is some filler, but I'm seeing that across the board these days. Albums in general seem to be getting longer and longer, probably as a result of the streaming era and there no longer being a need to confine things to the length allowed by a CD or a record. That can be useful, for sure, but artists need to realize that it's ok not to release everything you record or to save some of it for lower-tier EPs or mixtapes.

yes, that's true, certainly. that being said tho, i'm listening to new release of another one of my fav rappers, Che Noir, which she dropped just a week ago. it's much smoother and chilled than any of the other dark twisted albums we discussed today, and just perfect for insomniac me at 5am. and album is aonly 22 minutes long.
she's really good with her bars as well. this is the lead single.

meh. not impressed by these kinds of rappers anymore.
the beats are boring. the flow is boring. their attitude is bad and they have no passion in their voice. it's just slop. I've heard AI lo-fi tracks with more personality and emotion than these washed up rappers have.
