The title for this series isn't quite correct here as there are more seasons than just one. Bit they all seem to be "Betrayal" plus whatever the season's sub title is.
This is the current season and

“Under His Eye” sounds Handmaiden-ish.
Is this like all the bad signs were obviously there and blatant, but she excused them away?

Yeah. I mean…I watched this and couldn't believe this woman was around him…after the first incident. Jfc.
And his excuses. When you see what the final straw was, you'lm also want to throw something qt the screen.
As for Handmaiden-ish, wouldn't know. Can't bring myself to watch that series. -

First two seasons were good, but then it got really stupid. Seemed to focus on Elisabeth Moss’s prolonged facial emoting. I stopped after season 4.

Well to be fair, it was pretty highly acclaimed so it was worth the time gamble.
I should have given up on The Walking Dead loooong before the show ended. That wasn't time well spent. I did give up on Lost at JUST the right time though. My boyfriend is currently wishing he had. But he's now at that point of "well, watched this far, might as well see how it ends". -

I quit watching The Walking Dead after Glenn’s death.
Lost got bad season 3. I had to keep watching, like your boyfriend. Whyyyyyy?

I knew that was coming because I'd read some of the comics. Didn't continue with those till the end. Enough to know the show version is the tame version.
But none of it beats Crossed.
Yeah s3 was when I quit Lost. The moment they started "moving the island".
