The soundtrack from Grease was a big hit. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction too. Personally, my favourite is the soundtrack from Vanilla Sky

I hate that movie Vanilla Sky.
I don't think the soundtrack for Grease or any of those others was as popular as Dirty Dancing.

Apples and oranges. Dirty Dancing mixed original songs and hit songs from the 1960s. Grease used only or mainly original songs.

Swayze's parent were dancers and it's obvious he was given lessons. He probably could've been a professional dancers if he wanted. The music, choreography and dancing are great.

Soundtrack to Footloose had 6 top 40 hits off of it.
            Footlose - Hit #1
Let's Hear It For The Boy - Hit #1
            Almost Paradise - Hit #7
            Holding Out For A Hero - #35
Dancing In The Sheets - #17
            I'm Free - #22
I'd say that's WAY more successful than Dirty Dancing.

I honestly do not think the OP implied that because she went on to discuss nostalgia about dancing.

Was just researching that… I see it in used record shops a
                      lot
, so it was obviously a huge seller. Apparently there were four that officially originated from the soundtrack, but also several others that got a second life or finally took off after being included on it.

Ah man that soundtrack still rocks to this day. I forgot about that.
But I still feel like Dirty Dancing had a better soundtrack. Just because those other movies had #1 hit song doesn't mean that the soundtrack was great.

But in this case it kinda does support at least the opinion that it's great. But honestly…soundtracks are some of my favorite albums…so anyone's opinion is relevant to me.

Lol I had both of these in a jukebox back in the day. If I never hear the bodyguard again it'll be too soon. SNF on the other foot is timeless perfection!

My mom is a huge Bee Gees fan, but it took me quite a while to warm up to their disco era. On the other hand, the real old school stuff like "Gotta Get a Message to You," "Words," "Massachusetts," etc. caught my ear from the start.

I'm only vaguely familiar with their early non disco stuff. Didn't care for them as a kid…kiss way too cool imo…but now I luv the bee gees and hate kiss😂
