My dad was teetotal all of his life and hated if any of us kids drank but he adored my uncle who was an alcoholic, thought he was the funniest man who walked the earth and always sat next to him at family dos.

I used to drink heavily in my teens, twenties, and very early thirties, but then my priorities changed, I grew up, and now I drink less than a few times a year, never having more than four bottles of beer.
I think drink is for people without responsibilities and/or self-confidence.

Maybe if we knew there was something to win we'd make more of an effort? We always perform better when we know there's a prize to be won. Cash, preferably, but a medal is also sweet.
