What is it with Brits and instant coffee?

Instant coffee is pretty much dehydrated regular coffee, and it’s made from cheap beans. It tends to have a rubbery taste that I don’t care for.

That’s why I can never drink instant coffee. It’s for people who are on the go, wanting a beverage that impersonates coffee. Except it’s missing a large portion of the oils that you get with traditional coffee, and the act of spray drying involves high temperatures that burns or messes up whatever oil is left.

OP is obviously cultured and well traveled. Their culinary expertise is second to none. They have eaten British and various cuisines extensively which allows them to be opinionated on the topic. Cope and seethe.
