Soooooo, you promise the kid a fancy job owning a magical chocolate factory that comes with an army of orange midgets, not only is this every kids dream but it was a chance to GET HIS FAMILIY OUT OF EXTREAM POVERTY!! and at the very end you turn to the kid and say "
ya know wot kid, youre a dick, eat **** and die, ****
" just to see if he will remain a kind person? You have just ripped his heart out ffs…..
and was this dependant on Charlie's demeanor? say if he gave him back the gob stopper in an angry way like "
Hey ya know wot ya ****ing weird nonce, I dont want ya ****ing factory or ya gob stopper, eat **** and die, ****
" would he have still passed the test?
and WHY Charlie? Charlie broke some rules just like the other kids but he was the only one to survive the aftermath of his rule breaking ( Trust me, those other kids are dead )
did the other kids ever get a chance to reedem themself with the gob stopper test btw? been a long time since i saw the film

I dunno man.
All I know is that I can never get past that part when they are on the boat of Hell with those nightmare images.
I have tried 100 times.
I know that I could FF through it but my thumb is just too tired to try.

Yeah I never understood the acid trip tunnel, Charlie and the other kids and parents were the first visitors to the factory right so did he have it built fir THEM or was it always there? and WHY?

It really is a bizarre, psychedelic, surreal movie.
You brought up the end, which is a good question in it's own right.
I thought it was bizarre how the elevator flies into the air.
I wonder how they made that effect.
Was it suspended by a wire, a model or trick photography with a background filmed?

At that point in the movie ("I SAID GOOD DAY!"), Charlie didn't know anything about Wonka's plans to give him the factory; he just thought he was losing out on a lifetime supply of chocolate. He didn't find out he could have the factory until after he had "passed the test." -

I like that you changed your name/avatar to reflect the festive season, it gives you a nice human quality that this place sorely lacks.
And yes, now that you mention it I do recall Charlie and his grandfather being rather shocked that they now own the factory, probably not half as shocked as they were when they were all of a sudden bungled into an elevator that then took off like a spaceship lol wtf what if one of them had an extream phobia of heights? a little heads up wonka, jesus.

I brought UP some thoughts already on the elevator ABOVE.
It is curious because Charlie was not like the other kids where he got curious to try something new just like everyone else.
The only difference was that he got himself out of trouble unlike all the others.
