Dawn of Planet of the Apes had a nice mix of dark and light tones. It took its time to build up to the action, and the already well done and impact action sequences all the more satisfying. I felt like Koba was also a fantastic villain who you could empathise with.
War of the Planet of the Apes is also one of the movies I'm looking forward to most this year.
I could see him being a very good match for the character.

In theory he could do a good job since he was able to jump into a franchise and elevate it. However the only question is, can he make a quick turn around? Now luckily there won't be motion capture work and they probably have some type of script prepared rather than having to change courses (like from Rise to Dawn).

From what I've read, they have a script. I'd like to see what he could do with the property.
Ultimately I'll reserve judgement until after we see who gets signed on.
