Good list but here's mine:
- X-Men: DOFP
- Spider-Man 2
- The Dark Knight
- X2
- Superman: The Movie
- Iron Man
- Spider-Man
- X-Men: Apocalypse
- The Avengers
- Batman
I just thought of another one but I don't know if it count. Would The Incredibles count?

I just pulled the DVD for that movie out of a storage space I have in another city, forgot that I owned it and really looking forward to watching it again! It's excellent, my favourite Pixar film.
I think you can count it as a superhero movie yeah, although it wasn't based on a previous comic book (Fantastic Four I suppose, very loosely). -

Me too, I'm going to hunt it down this weekend and try to pick up a copy of
The Hateful Eight
and
Hail, Caesar!
with it. I can't wait! It's time for some new great stuff to add to my collection. I'm especially interested in the special features for
X-Men Apocalypse
, I hope they go into detail about how they filmed the Quicksilver mansion sequence, it was an incredible cinematic feat.
I haven't added my top 10 superhero list, so here it is, mutable and subject to change!- X-Men: Apocalypse
- X-Men: Days of Future Past
- Spider-Man 2 (still the most perfectly crafted superhero movie ever made, but not my personal favourite any more)
- The Dark Knight
- X2
- Batman Begins
- Superman: The Movie
- Spider-Man
- Batman '89
- X-Men First Class

It is. If there is a masterpiece of the comic book movie genre aside from this film, it's Sam Raimi's
Spider-Man 2
, and I say that as neither a big fan of the director or the character, but as a fan of good story telling and good film-making. I would say that
X-Men Apocalypse
is probably the greater endeavour given the size and scope of the movie, the pacing is absolutely perfect for such a long film, as is the balancing of a huge cast of characters, and it was a hell of a lot of fun! Especially Oscar Isaac's performance.
Spider-Man 2
had it a bit easier with a tighter, smaller cast and story, and was not as ambitious of an enterprise as
X-Men Apocalypse
, but nevertheless it's an exceptionally well written and well directed movie. I would call it near perfect. -

I know, I know, there's always someone claiming that a movie they liked is the greatest, well, now it's my turn!
You say that like you haven't been posting for the last month about how much you loved this movie. You're just going overboard now. Too each his own, I suppose.
That was sarcasm -

Hey, I like all of the lists given thus far, those are all excellent movies and I'm not arguing against them, I'm saying that this is the best superhero movie that I've ever seen. Personal preference, and it wasn't one that I came to easily, there's a lot of tremendously good superhero movies out there, going all the way back to the 70's
Superman
film. What a soundtrack, it might be John Williams' best and it's hard to see any other actor other than Christopher Reeve in the role, he defined it, for me.
But the jump-starter for the modern superhero era is
X-Men
, and Bryan Singer did a good job bringing it all full circle with a complicated filming involving some of the best actors in the business in
X-Men Apocalypse
. I've had a fun time every time I've seen it, and that's a rarity. -

This is no different than a Roland Emmerich film. From a pure film-making and storytelling perspective it's awful. The fact that you think this is better than The Dark Knight, Civil War, The Winter Soldier, DOFP, X2, Iron Man, GOTG, Watchmenis just wrong
If you like it cause ur a comic fan, ok fine, but from a FILM perspective, not thinking about the source material, all the films above are clearly much better films. Saying it's the best of all time is just being a tad too much of a fanboy -

Roland Emmerich could NEVER hook people to the story and characters so much that they forget a HUGE spoiler alert like the end of DOFP. Singer showed epic destruction because that's who Apocalypse is. He doesn't care about all the humans he's slaughtering in his schemes. It's made quite clear in the film that Apocalypse does care about all of his "children" / mutant brothers and sisters at least until they defy him.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to watching it again (for the 1st time since the theatres) over the Christmas holidays. I'm going to write up character studies for all of the major characters shortly thereafter as they're all well defined and worth taking a look at. I'm also halfway through writing an article on filming techniques throughout the decades and how each of the X-Men movies in the recent trilogy employ the cinematic techniques of the decades they're suppose to take place in, which was a really nice artistic choice and adds another dimension of visual flavour to these already rich films.

Agreed. Just looking at the deleted mall scene from Apocalypse, it really does have the look and feel of movies like Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
