You seem to have forgotten Wynn and Banshee in the same copy room last season.

Considering it was GLAAD who pointed out only a few years ago 69 percent of American TV shows were full of gay slurs and gay jokes with good examples from a lot of popular TV shows and TV has a LONG history of pushing the anti-gay agenda down our throats I sure don't see you complaining about your children seeing them but when a TV show paints two women (who we don't even know are homosexual or bisexual) in a positive light you claim it is gay propaganda??? If you read the Supergirl comic books of the past 20 years Supergirl (Kara and Linda) were strong, aggressive and edgy female characters who were more powerful than Superman but like many of the superhero shows on TV at the moment we have watered down versions of female superheroes (Black Canary being a great example) that heavily rely on male characters to help them 'cause we can't have them written the way they are in comic books or we will have sexist guys crying emasculation like they did over Wonder Woman in the 70s.

Yes, it sucks the liberal agenda is so obvious in this show. You'll need to explain to your daughter the difference between real life and tv. I'm sure you are a good mom. I wish you all the luck. This show has gotten cheesy and pushing their opinion. It bums me out, but I just quit it. Not worth the hour of my life.
Before anyone says "see ya". I won't be back to read it. Sorry. I just decided it right now or I wouldn't have even come on IMDb. I hate liberals.

used to be a show to watch with your kids "cause you didn't have to parent them"
Don't be worried your child might think all tough women are gay , teach them it's not the case.
It's your choice to pass Mon-el's antics behind closed doors as 'playing' but a real lesson there wouldn't be 'that's inappropriate for tv' , it would be 'that's inappropriate behavior' .

I would think the little girl would already know that the show is different from real life in that it has a girl flying in the air. Maybe she should stick with explaining that instead of trying to deny there are lesbians in the real world.

I can't let my daugther watch this anymore. And it's not like i"m some bible thumper or ultra right wing conservative. When it was on CBS it was more fun. It's a comic book character, it should be fun.
But now on the CW it's more of an Adult show. I'm ok with that as long as Adults are watching. But I don't think it's for kids any longer. Just my Opinion.

I have to wonder where you get the idea that comics characters "should be fun". Comics are an entire form and should run the gamut. And they do.
The only reason there's an idea of the form as being for kids is the censorship of the US Senate during the Kefauver hearings, which also came down on presenting a black man as an astronaut. That mindset got left behind in the 70s and it amazes me that there are people who still buy into it.

Kara's literally a teenager hitting puberty? She's 24 I think. Lena and Kara? Lol. Two tough girls are gay. Supergirl is tough and she's not gay.

OP I see you have more than 3 pages of comments and I would expect that. I'm sure most disagree with you because there are a lot of gay supporters on this IMDB board and as soon as someone says something they don't like, they pounce on you.
Anyhow I came here to post too, because I'm very disappointed in Alex's story line. I really liked and admired her. As you said, she was one of the strong women. She was also very career minded. Imagine she actually stayed home from work to mope. All of a sudden she's gay. She's running down Maggie like a little schoolgirl with a schoolgirl crush. I hate the story line and I hate how they've ruined Alex. She came out. Why. She had feelings for Maggie but not because she was born gay, but because she had the hots for a beautiful lesbian.
The writers feel they have to put a gay story line in everything, and I'm sick of it. I do like Maggie, and I'm glad she didn't fall for Alex and go all mooshy over her. I like that she wants to just be friends.

Well- watch the episode again. She expressed feelings from high school for a female friend. So- she's not suddenly interested in women only because of Maggie. The situation with Maggie served as a catalyst for her to examine herself once and for all and find the courage to admit it and come out. Psssst yah, people are "born gay", it just takes time to realize it because society is so completely heteronormative and it takes courage to come out due to all of the hateful people in the world who are anti gay.

Technically, that's a mashup of two tropes:

Definitely not the mark of competent writing.

She still is tough, they even had her stand up to Maggie and really make sure she realized what she did and how it affected her, and also showed that she'd mature enough to forgive and not burn the bridge.

Jayhawk I so agree with you. I'm done with this show. I really was one of the faithful ones who was watching it even when it wasn't getting great ratings. I stuck with it. Now that it seemed to have perked back up, they bring in this pro-homosexual agenda as you say. At the last episode when Maggie came back to Alex's house and talked to her and they were about to kiss, I changed the channel. I'm done. That's one show that is off my list when it returns in the new year.
Another show that had started off so great was This is Us. So clean and nice.
I was really liking it. Would you believe that they've now turned that old black man - the father - into a caricature of a gay man? Like anyone would believe he's gay.
And now the show has gotten so many Golden Globe nominations. I wonder if it would have gotten that if there wasn't a gay story arc.
That's the next one I might be cutting off my must-watch list when it returns next year. I'm sick of these writers that start off a show with straight characters and then mid-stream or close to the end, changing the trend of the show. Now if they had started off like that I might have understood and said, ah well, and maybe continue watching. But when they do this turnaround, it really annoys me. So bye bye Supergirl, and if This is Us continues down the same trend, bye bye for me to that too.

I guess you and Jayhawk would both be the kind of parents who would disown their children if they were to ever come out as gay/lesbian, bisexual, or transgender - wouldn't you?

That's the thing, if you raise your kids right they will never choose that path. If you can't see that it IS a choice then you should NOT be allowed to be a parent. My kids are being raised correctly with love AND discipline.
