David Ayer behaved like a true two-faced. In the Comicon, he compared Jared's work with the work of Heath ledger and Jack Nicholson and by that time he already knew what was done to Jared's work. It was not only cut but very badly cut.
Instead of Shut up about the subject, he even put more pressure on Jared's shoulders and increased the public expectation about the character. That was really a very low attitude from him, but what can we expect from a person who every time he enters the room says "FVck Marvel". -

Upon rewatching, Leto aped one part of Ledger's Joker too much, subconsciously or not: his
reptile-like
nature. Aside from the obviously lip-licking, Ledger felt like he could potentially pop out from anywhere, ready to scare and/or kill you, like a snake.
Leto tries the same thing, but over-the-top and not as well, and it's thus somewhat embarrassing to watch: the stupid way he slinks and waves his body around, the shaved eyebrows, the slicked-back hair, the snakeskin coats, and the same nasal vocal inflection.
