      He was not the world's best director and a lot of studio interference hurt some of his films from being better than they already were, but he definitely contributed to the genre and inspired a lot of people. Without the original Nightmare on Elm St. New Line Cinema would not had been the success it would later become, we probably would not have had The Lord of the Rings trilogy as it is now.

            The People Under The Stairs is a great movie. Just because a movie doesn't get sequels, doesn't mean it wasn't successful. That movie was made to be stand alone though.
