A little makeup would go a long way here

Why would this professional actress and former model dress herself up in a pretty long gown but NOT wear any makeup when she accompanied her acclaimed director hubby James Cameron to the 2010 Academy Awardsknowing she'd be on camera frequently? Either she doesn't feel she needs to wear any or else she's ill, which I sincerely hope is NOT the case. In my opinion a little makeup correctly applied enhances every woman's appearance and Suzy needed that for a "healthier glow" shall we say? Picture her wearing makeup, a more flattering hairstyle and maybe a little jewelry and she would have looked much better than she did. And not so noticeably thin. Is this her way of saying fooey to Hollywood? Why wear the designer evening gown and then not attempt to finish dressing herself up to complete "the look" for such a formal occasion?

Well, first of all she is a grown woman who can take care of herself, and make choises of her own. Regardless for her motivation, she does not have to answer to anybody. She can do what she want to do. In other words: she can do whatever she want to, and look like whatever she want to look like basicly.
Secondly, as an amateur actor I know how frustrating it can be to live up to the princess or prince depiction people have of you. It can realy wear you down psychologically. It is healty allowing youself to say beep it, today im going to be myself."
Not to be rude or anything, it is just my pers5b4onal opinion. It just frustrates me sometimes when people has a negative tone, just because their dream shows its flaws.
But hey, anyway PEACE. -

Well, we can't all come from an english speaking country, where one is spoonfed the language from birth. However, language is not supposed to be in the way of the message, unless the language is impossible to understand. If that is the case, the sender fails to understand the principals of communication.

haha nice love it when people correct someone over trivial spelling and grammar but come from one of the few countries that can't speak more than one language, and have one of the worse educational systems around.
Your answer is correct because she can.

When I watched the Oscars and saw her with James Cameron, I just figured he had found himself yet another woman. When I found out this was the same woman who had been the granddaughter in Titanic (and the woman he left his then-wife for), I was stunned. She looked terribly old, and yes unmade-up, but also as thin as a thermometer. She looked terrible. Sorry I sound shallow. It really isn't all about looks for me, but really some of these women at the Academy Awards - I wonder if they're blind or what, when I see how some of them are dressed or coiffed or made up. Anyway, Suzy, fill yourself out a little, my goodness!

A lot can happen in 13 years, and looks can changed dramatically when she was made up for the movie and then seeing her "naked". And she's always been stick thin, she was a model. She was a clothes hanger in Titanic, she was a close hanger in The Usual Suspects (watching it right now).
This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here. -

I agree! Who wouldn't want to primp for the Oscars??? That is strange to me, but I guess she figures she don't have to get all dolled up for her man or anyone else. So like you I am wondering why bother with the dress?

I saw Fandango shortly after its release in '85. I thought she was an absolute doll in that movie. The red hair, and that smile ! Just glowing. And not a lot of makeb68up. I thought (at least in that movie) that she was naturally beautiful and didn't need much, if any makeup. I haven't seen her lately, but she's 49 years old now, so I would cut her some slack. As long as she's not psychotic and instead, a happy person to be around, that is enough for me. Her inner beauty will shine.

No matter age, looks or occupation, you should never allow yourself to let yourself go completely.
Even if she is a housewife?, that isn't an excuse to completely ignore your appearance.
You can be any age and look healthy and good.
I never understand how some people can stop caring about themselves that easily. Yes there can be a lot of reasons for it and it's not my place to comment but why allow yourself to go to that step?
Oscars is an excellent way to get dressed up. She could've just put on some make-up and that would made all the difference. -

It is letting go when you look 75 and frail as opposed to your real age. That's how not wearing make-up is to let oneself go.
Also, it was the Oscars. It was not a regular "go out" moment. It's not like going to the supermarket or your typical evening out.
I imagine a regular evening out with friends would require make-up. Award- shows are like that evening multiplied 500 times.
Oscars is a perfect example to really dress up and and stun people with looks. You don't have to go overboard, a simple dress and make-up can go a long way.
In this case she already had the dress. A touch of make-up would have made her and the dress stunning.
And look age-appropriate as well.
