Obesity killed him?

How come these celebs' normal weight didn't prevent their deaths?
Because their weight had nothing to do with their deaths. You can be in Michael Phelps shape (described by some as the most fit human ever) and still die from an overdose-induced heart attack. You almost sound like you don't believe being overweight can be a factor in someone's death. Of course it can. Obesity now costs the US more than any other health related concern, including smoking. Yes, you can be thin and be at risk for a heart attack if you have heart disease. But if you're obese, more likely morbidly obese, and you've had a lifestyle of limited activity and poor diet, you've got a pretty good shot at having a heart attac2000k. It takes much more work for the heart to pump the blood through the body of an obese person than it does the body of a person at a healthy weight. Not to mention other factors such as genetics and smoking, drinking, etc. Also, A heart attack from too much cocaine is medically different than a heart attack from being overweight and can occur without any actual heart disease.
Lacking evidence that there was something else in his system that could have triggered a heart attack (such as cocaine), the proper conclusion would be that he died of a regular old heart attack more likely than not brought on by being overweight and all the baggage that entails.
I love James. I actually think it's more tragic that he died so young the way he did. Not sure I understand your concern about his death being linked to his weight.
Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle. -

But there is a big difference between just being overweight, and being obese.Statsitics say that at least half of the population is overweight and obese. Most people are not dropping dead at age 51 though.I was thin all my life eating anything I wanted and as much as I wanted doing no excercise until I was 34 and was overweight,(not obese)and had to go on a diet for the first time in my life. I have been struggling with a very slow metabolism for years now,and I walk more than I ever did and eat less than I did when I was thin. But I still can't get thin like I used to be.
I cheat only sometimes with good tasting fattening foods because I get tired of eating tasteless low-fat low-calorie foods. My internist said to me many times that most people's metabolism slows down as they age and she said I can't tell you how many pateints I've had who were thin when they were younger and never were overweight and now they are.My endocrinologist said that my metabolism slowed down also.My father who has been thin for the last 20 years, still has to take medicine to lower his cholesterol and blood pressure anyway.
And my father told me that when he and my stepmother had guests over for dinner my stepmother would make the same low-fat low-calorie meals that she makes for them and their company never liked it,so my father asked her to stop doing this and she makes tasty fattening foods only for their company. And as my father said when you go to a restaurant, they don't serve low-fat diet foods, they use butter, whole milk, eggs, and regular cheese and fatty meats etc.Because these foods taste good and nobody wants tasteless diet foods. That is why there are so many obese people walking around. -

I don't know why he died but just some weeks ago I saw him, in a movie or at a picture, and I thought to myself: Man, he needs to lose weight or he gonna die soon. It's very sad! I liked him in several roles.

The singer Robert Palmer died of a heart attack in his early fifties and he wasn't fat. Orson Welles made it to 70 and Marlon Brando was over 80. I think it's much more complicated than people think, but they like pat explanations that fit their prejudices.

mmcvey1 Good points, I think he may have had blockages in some of his arteries, that's my guess, if caught in time stents could have been used to open the arteries. I have a friend that had over 80% blockage in two main arteries, he went home one day after the procedure and he's doing great now, the guy is 75.

Obesity is a "good" reason to die of heart attack, but recreations drugs taken on daily basis are even worse. Stress is also bad.
Then of course there's a genetic factor, if in your family a lot of people who looked fit had heart problems while they were young there's a good change to inherit these problems.

I'm sure his lack of weight control is among the top reasons he's now in the other realm.
