i thought he was about 12/13.
when Amelia made Casper 'real', he said that 'Cinderella got til midnight', then Amelia replied 'But Cinderella wasnt 12', so that made me think he was about 12, cause he looked around that age.
but Casper took a long time to make because of the effects, so he could have been younger when he actually filmed his bit. -

Devon Sawa as Casper was my first real movie star crush. I was nine. My girlfriends and I use to play this game where we pretended to have boyfriends and we'd go on fake dates (an embarrassing confession). Devon as Casper was my boyfriend. Haha.

hey dnt feel ashamed, I watched this movie when i was 12, and It was so beautiful, i fell inlove with Kat (meow) harvey aka christina ricci, there and then, and to this day i am an avid follower of hers. she is truly a great actress even if she made a few duds choice in her career, she is now 29 and very beautiful still, I was so obsessed, I even used to own the COMPLETE set of movie still cards, like trading cards, I had hundreds of them in a folder, even had a few casper hologram cards, but one card showed her and her dad doc harvey(aka bill pullman) doing the pinkie swear outside the car, but i knew it was done inside the car, that was her special thing. I am now 24, and I still own that movie and have watched it since, and It takes me back 12yrs, it is amazing, I want to show my neices and nephews and then my children, it is a classic, I sometimes even quote casper. like " I told you i was a good dancer", " can i keep you"
that was memorable amazing moment! straight after this movie christina went on to do NOW AND THEN, and it also has devon sawa in it, if you havent seen it, I suggest you hire it, it also has a young thora birch ( american beauty - daughter & ghost world..)
the casper that followed were rubbish, even that one with HILARYs MUFF.
anyways thats just my 2 cents. -

i also admit he was one of my first real movie crushes. i just loved the smile he gives when kat realizes that he's casper! sighs and some guys should look a little rougher around the edges as they get older, it makes some even hotter! to use an old phrase, it makes them "rough and rugged."
kinda sad, but another early crush for me was Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid. yes, i know he was just a cartoon, but he became the basis of the perfect guy, in my eyes. especially when he says "i lost her once, i'm not gonna lose her again." ok, i'm done.

How old was Christina Ricci, for that matter? She didn't look 12 to me in '95 and now, watching that movie again, she doesn't look 12.
Then again, there's a lot of 12yr old girls who don't look their age. My sister somehow went from ten to sixteen in a year and a half. -

Couple things: First, Devon didn't do the voice of the animated ghost Casper. That was someone else.
As far as age goes, Devon was small for his age and most movies prefer to hire older actors to play young characters. In NOW AND THEN, they had a bunch of fifteen year olds playing twelve year olds. -

River Phoenix was 16 in Stand By Me and Ryan Merriman convincingly played a 12 year old in The Deep End of the Ocean at 16, he's only a year younger than Jonathan Jackson who played his 4 year older brother.
But due to film production, I bet these actors including Devon were 15 and hadn't hit their growth spurt yet.

Christina was 15 2000and Devon almost 17. Devon was adorable in that, one of my first crushes. I remember watching it in the movie theater with two girlfriends and when Casper shows himself during the dance we all drooled and went: Whoaaaaa! hahaha
