this is not only one of Rod Taylor's better films but also Jim Brown and Yvette Mimieux are also excellent.

            Top three are:
            Hotel
            The Glass Bottom Boat
            Sunday In New York
            Also,
            The Time Machine
            The V.I.P.s
            Fate Is The Hunter
My top three would be Desert Island top 20 (if I ever get stuck on a desert island). I still have a huge crush on Rod. I'll give The Train Robbers and 36 Hours a try per your recommendation!

              pouncemo, you
              have
to see both those films. I'm sure as a fan you'll like them. Several good recommendations are being made on this thread.

My two favorite films of his are
                36 Hours and Young Cassidy.
He nails it in both of them.

Sorry to break in again, Maddy, but
                          Hotel
is one of Rod's very best films and best performances. Probably in my top three or so of his films. It's quite exciting, with a good cast, well-acted, and rather wistful in its way. I hope you'll like it.

it's available from Warner Archives, as are several other of Rod's films, such as
                          Chuka
                          and

For me it was The Time Machine, followed by The Birds. Saw both in the Theater in my teens. I also found the final fight scene in Darker Than Amber quite memorable.

Probably The Birds. The Time Machine, unfortunately, has become very dated, but it is still enjoyable. I also like his last movie, Inglorious Basterds, even if he was virtually unrecognizable.

                                  My favorites:
                                  World Without End
                                  The Time Machine
                                  The Birds
                                  Fate is the Hunter
                                  36 Hours
                                  Hotel
                                  Dark of the Sun
I could add some more but if I were limited to a "lucky 7" those would be the picks. I'm also not including films like
                                  Giant
, which I like a lot, but in which Rod has only a smallish role.

Me again! (But I can always talk about Rod Taylor.) Have you seen
                                      Fate is the Hunter
? Rod's actually the second lead after Glenn Ford but the film works very well, with a great payoff. Ford plays an airline official investigating the cause of the crash of a jet airliner piloted by Rod, his old Army Air Force buddy. Very well done too, and also with a fine sup111cporting cast.
I think someone mentioned the World War II drama
                                      36 Hours
and if you haven't seen that it's one of Taylor's most intriguing roles, as a
                                      German
(!) medical officer behind an elaborate scheme to get the details of D-Day out of a kidnapped American officer (played by the late James Garner). I think Rod steals the show in that one too.
Both are on DVD, but you may have to look a bit.
                                      36 Hours
is out of print but readily available if you look.
                                      Fate
comes from the independent outfit Twilight Time, which releases its discs in limited editions of 3000. The DVD sold out a couple of years ago and copies today are kind of pricey last I saw. There is however a Blu-ray still available.
                                      Sorry for another intrusion!

Rod's actually the second lead after Glenn Ford but the film works very well, with a great payoff. Ford plays an airline official investigating the cause of the crash of a jet airliner piloted by Rod, his old Army Air Force buddy. Very well done too, and also with a fine supporting cast.
I think someone mentioned the World War II drama 36 Hours and if you haven't seen that it's one of Taylor's most intriguing roles, as a German (!) medical officer behind an elaborate scheme to get the details of D-Day out of a kidnapped American officer (played by the late James Garner). I think Rod steals the show in that one too.
Yes I've seen both of those films and liked them a lot. Of the two I prefer
                                        36 Hours
, Rod played a very interesting villain and it's a great story.
