My top three would be Desert Island top 20 (if I ever get stuck on a desert island). I still have a huge crush on Rod. I'll give The Train Robbers and 36 Hours a try per your recommendation! -

36 Hours and Young Cassidy.
He nails it in both of them.
I haven't seen
Young Cassidy
yet but it's one I'm quite interested in.

Sorry to break in again, Maddy, but
Hotel
is one of Rod's very best films and best performances. Probably in my top three or so of his films. It's quite exciting, with a good cast, well-acted, and rather wistful in its way. I hope you'll like it.

Giant
, which I like a lot, but in which Rod has only a smallish role. -

Fate is the Hunter
? Rod's actually the second lead after Glenn Ford but the film works very well, with a great payoff. Ford plays an airline official investigating the cause of the crash of a jet airliner piloted by Rod, his old Army Air Force buddy. Very well done too, and also with a fine sup111cporting cast.
I think someone mentioned the World War II drama
36 Hours
and if you haven't seen that it's one of Taylor's most intriguing roles, as a
German
(!) medical officer behind an elaborate scheme to get the details of D-Day out of a kidnapped American officer (played by the late James Garner). I think Rod steals the show in that one too.
Both are on DVD, but you may have to look a bit.
36 Hours
is out of print but readily available if you look.
Fate
comes from the independent outfit Twilight Time, which releases its discs in limited editions of 3000. The DVD sold out a couple of years ago and copies today are kind of pricey last I saw. There is however a Blu-ray still available.

Yes I've seen both of those films and liked them a lot. Of the two I prefer
36 Hours
, Rod played a very interesting villain and it's a great story.
