Am I alone here? I think Will Forte is the least humorous cast member (Colin Quinn - notable mention) in the history of SNL. He comes across as the guy that had/has friends that were/are hilarious, but he can't pull off the delivery like his friends. He has hilarious ideas and writes very well, his delivery, though, fails.
The trailer for "The Brothers Solomon" is a perfect example. The lines are funny, his look is funny, the premise is funnybut when he opens his mouth he bombs. I don't know if it's his annoying voice, or just the fact that he cannot pull off a funny line to save his life. I sometimes get the impression he delivers his lines (both in movies and on SNL) like he knows in his head they are humorous, and he intentionally delivers them poor, almost as a "f-you" to the audience.
Agree or disagree? If so, please explain your response. "Yes" or "No"'s are cheap -

I think he's one of the funniest people out there now a days.
I'm a fan of comedians/actors such as Sacha Baron Cohen, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Seth Rogen, and Eddie Murphyto name a few.
Forte has a unique delivery. I'll admit he's not the GREATEST actor in the world but he makes up for it with his bizarre facial expressions and charisma. He won't sell tickets due to his top notch acting skills that's for sure. But he's stb68ill a funny guy. I'd like to sit down some time and have a few beers with him. He's a riot! Watch the sketch where he's the Knife Salesman. Also, the Spelling Bee sketch is great too. All the MacGruber sketches, of course, are f'n classic!
Yes, he is a great writer
I must note that his comedic style is an acquired taste. It's cool if you don't dig Forte. Some people hate Will Ferrellsome people hated Chris Farleysome people hate Adam Sandler. People have the right to like and dislike whoever they wantduh that's a given! hehe
I think Forte's the man!
And he and Arnett look like they have great chemistry in The Brothers Solomon.

I disagree w/you, but everyone does have their own taste when it comes to comedy, as you pointed out. Speaking of which
I find some of the b68same people funny that you listed, with the exception of Seth Rogen and Eddie Murphy (young, SNL Eddie Murphy was great though). Rogen writes great comedy, but when it comes to his comedic acting ability, he's very hit and miss. Think Bob Odenkirk, whose style/brand of humor I absolutely love. Everything the guy has been attached to, I have loved, but enjoying him on screen is very hit and miss. He usually overplays the dumb/socially ignorant character and it comes across too forced. Again though, I love his work, and even the scenes where I don't necessarily appreciate his acting, I still find plenty to enjoy. He's easily one of my favorite comedic writers/producers/directors. I would also add to this list Allen Covert, who knows comedy very well, but totally bombs on screen. Grandma's Boy was a very funny premise, and could have been amazing had someone else played the role of Alex besides Covert. Nick Swardson was the only thing that made that movie bearable, he completely stole the show.
Anyways, to answer your question, here are some of my favorite comedians/comedic actors (to name a few): David Cross, Demetri Martin, Paul Rudd, Ricky Gervais, Ben Stiller, Sarah Silverman, and Bill Murray. -

Wow, you're like, my polar opposite when it comes to taste in comedy. You basically listed off the comedians I hate the most that are out there right now. Funny how people can have such different tastes in things.

disagree. he's one of a privileged few to make Darrel Hammond laugh. the characters he's played in different sketches have always been risky & unique. he's out of his mind. i'd like he & Maya Angelou to do a wacky sketch together. it could kill.

well, i do happen to think maya rudolph is very funny, but again, i don't feel the same way about will forte. maybe i just haven't seen him in a good role yet. thus far he's always disappointed me, and came across annoying and fighting for the spotlight. but i do hold out hope he'll have some a5b4mazing performance in a movie and change my mind

for you to not think he's funny is an opinion and we're all, definitely, entitled to have that and to disagree with on another. i, personally, love will forte. i think he's one of the reasons snl is starting to step it back up. i can't wait for the brothers solomon. it's all relative. i just don't like when people post on message boards talking about how much they dislike something/someone. to me, it just comes across as condescending and rude. i know you were civil in your opinion and i can respect that. i'm just saying, in general, when people do what you did, it's always to show how dumb others are for thinking that. i've seen people, on message boards, trash actors and movies i love and act like i'm an idiot for liking such things. i've heard it about wes anderson films. i've heard it about 111cshows like; tom goes to the mayor or aqhf. and tons others. i just say if you don't like something, don't like it. you don't have to voice it to their fans.

interesting. i never poked fun at will forte fans or you, just voiced my opinion, which is the exact same thing you're doing in your post, voicing an opinion.
also, i was stating pretty valid/thought out reasons as to why i do not think he is funny, not just the typical "he's not funny, he's an ass, you're an ass if you like him" routine. your post is a valid one, just not towards me.
the message board world is not filled with positive comments, as we both know, and it shouldn't be. the whole reason behind the forums is for average joes, like you and i, to have a voice and i think we can both agree if that voice were only reserved for the positive, it would be cutting out 50% of thought. not good.
i do not find will forte in the least bit entertaining. you do. and that's perfectly ok.

i never meant to imply that you were one of the "in general" people that i was talking about. and i'm all for differing opinions and debates and all that, but it's USUALLY not a debate. it's usually people throwing insults towards one another. i could do without that, honestly. again, i didn't think your approach was wrong or bad in anyway. it's nice to see civil conversation on message boards, i guess i just don't see the point in going to the carlos mencia forums to tell everyone how much i think he sucks, or whatever, you know?

the carlos mencia fans need to know he is a joke stealer and not actually mexican and that hisb68 real name is ned. i actually think it would be a great idea if you went to his forums and posted that

although, i agree with you on your opinion of carlos (ned) and how he's a fake and not remotely funny; it's not my place to tell people he's not funny because i don't have the final say so on that. if someone asks my opinion i'll say something. to some people he's funny, though. if you go tell people how he's a hack that steals jokes, that's one thing because that is fact. there is proof he's stolen jokes. him being funny or not is relative. i don't find anything he does funny, but someone does. i don't know why they find him funny, but they do. i don't think message boards would be boring without conflict. i enjoy talking to people that love the same movie as i do, or same music.1c84 i don't want to go to a place where fans of a certain thing generally go and have to argue with someone on their differing opinion. if you don't like an actor why come to their page to voice your opinion? why not just keep it to yourself and move on? just because you don't find will forte funny doesn't mean he's not funny. it just means he's not funny to you. and that doesn't prove anything. so you coming here to tell his fans you think he isn't funny does nothing. it doesn't spark any kind of debate or provoke thought. it's like "okay, you don't like him. good for you."

you should really re-read my comments before you post your own. i never said msg boards would be boring without conflict. i was stating that msg boards would be boring if it were only fans praising the topic at hand, as opposed to different view points being raised. people voicing different opinions does not always equal conflict. also, again, if you read my posts, you'd know that i didn't just write "will forte is not funny", i actually backed up my stance with reasons, instead of just a blanket statement.
and for arguments sakewhen you stated: "if you don't like an actor why come to their page to voice your opinion? why not just keep it to yourself and move on?"
i could use that same logic and state: if you like an actor, why come to a msg board and tell everyone you like them, why not keep it to yourself?
you see, that makes no sense. message boards are for people to voice their opinions, whether positive or negative. if it were nothing but all positive or all negative comments, it would make for some very boring reading material.
is it wrong for people to voice negative opinions about the president if they don't agree with him or about a company that has a shady background? do you think all negative opinions should be kept to the individual and not voiced? not a lot of freedom in that, huh?

disclaimer***i hope you do read all of this, however, i feel that you won't. so don't respond if you only read it half-ass and skim over parts. you'll only misquote me and take it out of context.
first of all, if you look up conflict in the dictionary it says; to come into collision or disagreement; be contradictory, at variance, or in opposition; clash.
read that very carefully.
now your repelies are getting a little rude. i read your post just fine and i was not rude to you. and i can use your words too; if you would have really read my post you would see that i wasn't saying you specifically were coming in here saying "will forte is not funny" i said that IN GENERAL read it one more time, IN GENERAL when people come to message boards to talk about disliking someone it's to trash their fans etc. i didn't say you personally, but i did say that's why i don't like posts like that because it usually ends with people being rude to each other.
and i still disagree that message boards would be boring without differing points of views. i talk with my friends all the time about anchor16d0 man, because we love that movie. we joke about parts we like and laugh and have a good time. usually when i ask somone if they like anchor man and they say no, the conversation usually doesn't go far beyond that because we obviously don't have that in common. that's why people go to message boards of certain actors, bands etc. not to discuss differing view BUT to talk about common interests. do you get that at all? fanbased message boards aren't for people that aren't fans.
your logic is weak, in my opinion. your comparision about the president is a horrible one. first of all, if there is a george bush website with a message board, it was probably intended for people who like bush. not people who want to trash him. there's nothing wrong with differing opinions or even voicing them, but i don't go out of my way to talk to people about how i dislike bush. i don't look up where the local republican campus meet up is and go in there to tell them i think bush is dumb and evil and then tell them why i think so. no, i don't go there. if anything i'd talk to my friends who don't like bush and we'd all get along because we agree on it. i hope this sinks in with you.
just to recap, incase you're too lazy to read my entire post;
the reason you come to a FAN page is to discuss common interest. that's what they were created for. not for conflict (again, look up conflict because you apparently don't know what it means)
message boards wouldn't make for boring reading material if it was just positive. unless you're a person who likes to start arguments. then, yes, i guess it would be boring. not all message boards are intended for ANY opinion. a bands message board is for fans, not for haters. so don't act like it's an absolute. it's not.
you're trying to put words in my mouth. again, if YOU would read MY post you would see i said there was nothing wrong with differing opinions. i even complimented you on how you approached stating yours, but i still don't agree this is the forum for you, if you don't like will forte, it's not the forum for you. it wasn't designed for you.

alright matthew, this is becoming a little childish. i have no idea how you took my former post to be rude, b/c it definitely was not. i corrected some of your verbal mistakes and your logic/reasoning, but i never said anything rude to, or about you.
one thing you need to realize thoughimdb is not a fan site. if you google will forte's name, i imagine someone out there with poor taste in comedy has actually devoted a fan page to him, but it's not his page on imdb.com. imdb is an information site that details the career (both good and bad) of people in the entertainment industry. if anything, this thread that you're posting in, is titled, "he's not funnyat all". that suggest it's a thread for people who are not fans of will forte. using your own logic against you - wouldn't you be wrong for coming into a message board that is clearly against will forte, and posting your positive comments for him? you even said "but i still don't agree this is the forum for you, if you don't like will forte, it's not the forum for you. it wasn't designed for you." fair enough, but tell me matthew, where is the forum for people who do not like will forte? where can our voices be heard? should we be silenced?
i believe my president bush argument is valid. i was responding to your earlier post when you said "why not just keep opinions to yourself and move on?". i was res111cponding to that alone, and to that, my point is completely valid. you took my bush argument and ran with it and exaggerated it to somehow turn it into me going to republican meetings in order to tell everyone he is dumb and evil. where in the world did you come up with that? once again, you must realize that will forte's imdb page is not his personal fan page. it's a page that details his career (both good and bad). please do not confuse the two.
look, it's ridiculous we're even debating this. i happen to think the imdb message boards are for people to voice their opinions, positive and negative, and you think they're only for fans with positive feedback. fine. i totally disagree, but if you feel that way, again, it's your opinion.

I realize imdb ITSELF is not a fansite, but generally people go to specific actors pages that they are fans of to see what they are up to, and they generally go there to talk with other fans. Now, I realize this is not a rule, because we live in a free country and you can go wherever you want and say whatever you want. I'm not saying YOU CANNOT come here and trash him. What I am saying is, why would you care so much to come here and trash him where fans come to talk about how they like a person? Why all the efforts? I don't go to the imdb page of people I don't like to post h16d0ow much I hate them because I know that a good majority of the people posting on those boards are fans and unless I'm in the mood to argue I'm not going to stir up trouble. I have no problems with them liking someone I do not. And I especially don't tell someone they have "poor taste", as you put it, when they like something I don't. It's comments like that that I consider to be rude and condescending. You're acting as if your tastes are superior.

Why do you need a forum for that? Why do you have to be heard? Are you so conceited that you have to go rain on everyone else's parade? Do the masses have to hear what you think about everything? That's fine. I believe your bush argument is completely invalid. And I was responding to your analogy and that single analogy alone. I believe my point was made. If you hate bush you don't go talk to republicans about it, do you? You generally talk to your friends friends that agree with you. Of course I exaggerated and ran with it. That's what people do when they are trying to get you to see something. They make the statement obvious. Where did I come up with that you ask? It was my correlation between your bush/forte link. Since you apparently didn't get what I was saying here it is, broken down; in my correlation bush = forte. The republican campus meetings = a will forte message board. Do you get it now?

Usually people go places, read things, keep company with people/things that interest them. Things that they like. Now, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with people that hate will forte to come to his page. Not even saying your post about you thinking he isn't funny is wrong. My point is, it's pointless for you to do so. Why bother? Why come here and cause a fuss? You know, good and well, you're going to get a fan that argues with you. This may not be an official fanpage of will forte or anyone else on imdb, but I'm going to say that is what it's intended for. You can voice your opinion here all you want, buy why do it? that's all I want to know.
