He'll always be Miles Dyson

It's taken a while to grow on me after having watched several episodes back to back from all three seasons, but I think his work in Eureka as Dr. Henry Deacon is his best overall to date. Henry is a very realistic scientific genius, much more talented/gifted/brilliant fun and creative than the Dyson character from T2. He is also the highly respected moral compass, emotional glue, and all around humbly confident and self-assured everyman who can explain complex scientific concepts to anyone within the Eureka community.
The Henry Deacon character is an inspiration to all real life professional and aspiring scientists everywhere.
The following paraprased quote from Henry is very poignant regarding scientific discovery and the scientific process:
"Mistakes can sometimes lead you in entirely different, totally unexpected directions that can lead to new breakthroughs and discoveries" -

I agree, when i first saw it was like "wow the guy from T2". But he really plays the role well in Eureka and i think that he has earned the right to not just be known as "that guy from te5b4rminator". Anyway; He is a great actor and i enjoy all of his work.

for years I always thought of him as "Dyson" as well, and that's how the wife & I always referred to him, not knowing his real name. that was, until we started seeing him in more & more things, and finally about 4 years ago searched here to find his real name.
I also think his character on Eureka is a real inspiration not only for the above mentioned aspects, but also the many roles he has/holds in their society, Mayor, tow truck driver, Coroner, et al. that's an inspiration for anyone & everyone, b/c; "specialization is for insects." R.A.H.
I'm an engineer who customizes, updates, refurbishes & rebuilds 70's era motorcycles; a 1/6 scale modeler; and a novice architect who mountain climbs, recycles everything and rescues animals from poor living situations. but I've also professionally been a housekeeper, a snowboard instructor, a chauffeur, a bartender, a TV personality, a plumber, electrician, carpenter, busboy, movie projectionist, cook, tow truck driver, and many more. the point being, a) if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space, and b) if you're doing SOME-thing to interest yourself other than simply watching other people DO things (like sports or politics) you're wasting your time & life (and other people's resources) not being constructive & productive. everybody can do something, but it seems a lot of folks just don't want to do anything except get paid, eat, sleep & have more kids. -

I just saw T2 for the first time, and I'm like, "That's Henry from Eureka." A bit younger, perhaps, but the same none the less.
I also thought that the T-1000 also looked a lot like a young2000er Colonel Ryan from The Unit -

NOPE! I disagree! He will always be Sherman Reese from Astronaut's Wife. I could base an entire serious on that character. An outsider, thought to be insane, going around the country delving into Government secrets. It'd be as good as X-Files!!!!!

Wow, this guy is really good. I caught an episode of Sandford and Son and thought he looked awfully familiar so I looked him up. The first thing I recognized him in was his role on A Different World when he was engaged to Whitley. I haven't seen anything else he was in but I do remember his stint on ADW so I guess for me he will always be Bryon Douglas.

you FOOLS!! He won't be remembered for any of those roles!
It is his performance in The Pest that will be remembered forever! The Bill-Cosby-expression he made right as he got shot in the junk is the single most important film moment in the entire history of cinema.

He'll always be The Brother From Another Planet to me.
In fact, It could be possible that the Brother character learned to speak, adopted the name Henry Deacon and got a job at Global Dynamics. Think about it, have you EVER seen Henry's feet? -

I just saw the L&O SVU episode "Grief", and was inspired to look him up.
He definitely is an excellent actor.
I haven't seen all the movies and TV shows mentioned by other posters, but I have noticed an interesting pattern - in at least two other movies in addition to T2, he played a character in a situation like his last few minutes in T2 - sacrificing himself in a very similar fashion. I don't recall the names of the other movies. Has anyone else noticed that? Talk about type-casting! -

Good call on "Executive Decision". I had forgotten about his role in that movie.
btw, I use Henry Deacon's quote from Eureka in my signature. It just about sums up the scientific process and can be applied to life in general.

Yeah, perhaps a little more fortunate distinction title than one of those guys that are in everything (like James Cromwell). Although I've watched him hundreds of times as Miles Dyson in Terminator 2 (my favourite film) I think I like him best on Smallville, he brought an impressive level of energy and eccentricity to the role of Dr. Hamilton. Also great in Of Mice & Men. Terrific actor.

I'll always remember him for "Blues Brothers 2000." He did such a wonderful job with his songs on the soundtrack.

Thanks, Joe!
