NOPE! I disagree! He will always be Sherman Reese from Astronaut's Wife. I could base an entire serious on that character. An outsider, thought to be insane, going around the country delving into Government secrets. It'd be as good as X-Files!!!!!

Who is this Miles Dyson you speak of?
Deacon will always be the Brother from another planet.

Wow, this guy is really good. I caught an episode of Sandford and Son and thought he looked awfully familiar so I looked him up. The first thing I recognized him in was his role on A Different World when he was engaged to Whitley. I haven't seen anything else he was in but I do remember his stint on ADW so I guess for me he will always be Bryon Douglas.

you FOOLS!! He won't be remembered for any of those roles!
It is his performance in The Pest that will be remembered forever! The Bill-Cosby-expression he made right as he got shot in the junk is the single most important film moment in the entire history of cinema.

He'll always be The Brother From Another Planet to me.
In fact, It could be possible that the Brother character learned to speak, adopted the name Henry Deacon and got a job at Global Dynamics. Think about it, have you EVER seen Henry's feet?

I just saw the L&O SVU episode "Grief", and was inspired to look him up.
He definitely is an excellent actor.
I haven't seen all the movies and TV shows mentioned by other posters, but I have noticed an interesting pattern - in at least two other movies in addition to T2, he played a character in a situation like his last few minutes in T2 - sacrificing himself in a very similar fashion. I don't recall the names of the other movies. Has anyone else noticed that? Talk about type-casting!

Like many other actors, this man's defining work are his collaborations with the great John Sayles. The Brother from Another Planet and Lone Star.

I just saw one of the other movies, beside T2, where he is left to deal with a bomb - "Executive Decision". There is at least one other movie where he plays that equivalent role.

Good call on "Executive Decision". I had forgotten about his role in that movie.
btw, I use Henry Deacon's quote from Eureka in my signature. It just about sums up the scientific process and can be applied to life in general.

Yeah, perhaps a little more fortunate distinction title than one of those guys that are in everything (like James Cromwell). Although I've watched him hundreds of times as Miles Dyson in Terminator 2 (my favourite film) I think I like him best on Smallville, he brought an impressive level of energy and eccentricity to the role of Dr. Hamilton. Also great in Of Mice & Men. Terrific actor.

StrangeI'd forgotten he was in Terminator 2. I haven't seen it for so many years. For me the role I always associate him with is the Brother from Another Planet. Amazing, memorable performance and
the man doesn't utter a single sound in 2 hours.
Admittedly, I need to see more of his work.

Joe Morton is such a great actor. some may know him as Mac from Speed, or the brother from another planet or Sherman Reese in The Astronaut1c84's Wife but he IS Miles Dyson. EVERY role he's in is awesome!

He was once asked to appear on Greg Gutfeld's Red Eye in character as Miles Dyson but refused. It would have been a very cool episode to watch .:)
